As I said, if it were your alma mater we wouldn't being near as many yes's.
Killing the whole for the sins of just a few is fricking retarded.

Those responsible for the atrocities aren't with the program anymore. It is fairly nonsensical to punish the university as it's a new establishment running the show now.
I do however believe that fanbase is fully deserving of excruciating pain and I wouldn't feel bad at all for them to lose their program.

Can someone who advocates the death penalty please explain what purpose the death penalty would serve?

It'll keep other NCAA assistant coaches from molesting kids because apparently if the NCAA doesn't give Penn St. the death penalty coaches will be diddling kids like they're eating grapes.

It serves 5 very important and meaningful purposes:
1) A pressing deterrent to NCAA member schools to NOT employ one head coach for 61 years.
2) Satiate the public's vendetta
3) Punish the memory of the dead
4) Make us all feel better
5) Allow us to move on - and not have to talk about PSU and be reminded of what happened by the presence of their football team...which might accidentally spark continued meaningful dialogue about the incident and annoy the hell out of us.

A complete ban from collegiate athletics until further notice seems appropriate to me.

i live here in pittsburgh, i work w/ plenty of penn state alums. i've spoken to a number of them about this. none of them are evil people, but they're all doing some hard self-examination of what it means to be a penn state alum.

No. If the university chooses to shut the program down, so be it. But the NCAA shouldn't.

Universities make a lot of money from collegiate athletics. It's because of this money and power that they allowed these atrocious events to happen. Penn State deserves the death penalty. There is no question about it. People complain and say, "The fans and the student athletes didn't do anything to deserve this!". So? Neither did the underprivileged children who were raped/molested by that horrible man. Giving Penn State the Death Penalty is exactly what needs to be done.

For the last time. Its not about the child rape. That is for the courts. Its the cover up of child rape for the purposes of protecting athletics. That is why the NCAA should get involved.

I agree with this except for the misspelling of "sight".

I asked this a lot in the 20 page thread. Only answer was that PSU did it so they deserve it. The DP crowd is only about retribution and just desert. They did it! They shouldn't get off scot-free.

This! Someone gets it. It's not a punishment. It's the first, necessary step to a cure. If, and only if..IMO, it's self-imposed.
