Kobe’s legacy benefits greatly from being on great teams and playing in the immediate aftermath of the iso heavy 90s. Oh, and of course the mean faces.

People hate Lebron for the decision, and for going to LA. Kobe arguably was just as bad, forcing his way from Charlotte to the Lakers, forcing out Shaq, and then shortly thereafter trying to force his way out of LA

Kobe also, uh, had an off the court incident.

Wanted Shaq out of there, their dispute or whatever that situation was reached a boiling point during the 04 season and Kobe applied every leverage he could with opting out to force the Lakers to make a choice, was what it was

My big argument is LeBron melted down in that Finals when he should’ve stepped up and proved once and for all what a legend instead he shrank from the occasion despite he’s the Chosen One. Kobe deserves criticism for being a gunner in that series but you can never claim he pulled a choke job the magnitude of LeBron did that Finals, you just can’t particularly considering the team they were facing.

Why is this thread still alive? Nothing wrong with Kobe being your favorite player or best ever in your mind but basically every unbiased sports analyst can sit down and tell you Lebron > Kobe.

Right now Lebron is fighting to be GOAT. Probably wont reach it in most peoples minds.

Kobe's not even in the discussion.

Lebron is consensus top 5 player all time. Kobe's borderline top 10. Which is obviously amazing. Just not as good as Lebron.

Look, LeBron had a bad 2011 Finals. You're ignoring that he had 7 Finals appearances after that point.

In all 7, he was great, including some performances that compete for the best Finals performance ever by a single player. Kobe has never touched LeBron's best Finals performances, much like Kobe's never compared with the best of LeBron's anything.

Kobe was not particularly good in two finals. He was good in 3 and great in 1 finals series.

You dog LeBron for a series where he averaged 18, 7 and 7. Kobe had a Finals where he averaged 16, 4 and 4.

I’d rather die on a hill than run away or cower on it which is what LeBron did in 2011 and game 1 OT LAST YEAR all I’m saying

Ok, fine. He didn't choke. His utter dumbassery on the court cost the Lakers any chance. Feel better?

The Warriors staff say Lebron’s game one performance(51/8/8) was the best they’d ever witnessed by an individual player. The idea that you would trivialize it down to an OT choke speaks volumes about your lack of objectivity.

But did they say anything about his mamba mentality?

No?

Didn’t think so. Try again.

There is no way LeBron has a better 3 point pct than Kobe with less than 20 seconds to go.

Pretty sure Kobe would prefer gategate to rapegate every day and twice on Sunday.

TIL that the first 47:40 of a basketball game doesn't matter.

Lebron shoots 18% from three under 20 seconds with an attempt to tie or take the lead

LeBron shoots 33% in the same scenario in playoffs only

Kobe shoots 20% from three under 20 seconds with an attempt to tie or take the lead

True, but that's not why Kobe ran him off. Kobe wanted to be the face of the franchise, whoch wasn't really going well until the Lakers pulled Gasol.

Shaq was still a championship caliber big guy for at least 3 or 4 years, as he showed in Miami. He wasn't innocent in the feud with Kobe, but Kobe very clearly used being younger to leverage Shaq out.

more like top 15 to 20...

and considering how many players have played, in the history of the league, that's an amazing feat, in and of itself...
