LeBron stalker: Don't rule out David Griffin as Lakers GM, T. Lue as coach

Per windhorst just now on XM radio.
"it's a very attractive job"
Kyrie also a name to watch reuniting

Griffin is a good GM. Gilbert never should have fired him in Cleveland, and the Lakers could do much worse.
Lue just seems like clickbait to get people talking. If Magic really quit over Walton, Walton may not even be gone, let alone Lue in.
Kyrie...Windhorst wants that attention.

Isn’t Griffin on NBA TV these days? If so, I could see him jumping at being GM again.

Time to get the band back together. Maybe D. Wade wants one more year.

“Attractive job” my arse.
Their young core is all banged up and hates LeBron. LeBron and his bullshite helped turn the team into a laughingstock. And their hopes are hinging on all their open cap space this offseason when they’re likely to get spurned by high profile FAs in favor of New York or the Clip Show.
Long term, it’s a better job than most.
In the short term, it’s only slightly less a clusterfrick than the Wizards but for very different reasons.

The guy on Twitter that seems well connected to all things Lebron - Cuffsthelegend - has been hinting at Kyrie and Lebron teaming up again for last two months or so.

Nah. The Lakers have a buttload of cap room in a loaded FA class and a lottery pick. Both of those let a GM make an immediate impact.
I know this board's biggest passions involve disliking LeBron and the Lakers youth, but those are two things most teams don't have.
Heck, compare it to Gilbert's old job. Are Ingram, Kuzma and Ball not better than Sexton, Cedi and Nance?
The Lakers aren't hampered with bad contracts eating their whole cap like the Wiz and have the chance to upgrade fast. Ownership is the cluster, but the roster/cap actually offers a bit for an incoming GM.

Bron should bring back Mike Brown for the trifecta

Off topic, but how has Sexton been as pro? Don't follow too closely, but I've never seen anything on him. Just curious.

Sexton is a rookie on a lottery team starting and playing a ton of mins. It’s hard to know how good someone is on a bad team in the NBA. A lot of noise in the stats but I think he’s viewed positively so far.

I like Sexton a lot, so I'm biased, but he's been ok. He scored a decent amount on a bad team.
Going forward, if he can improve his distribution and efficiency, he will be a really good pro. Those were thought of as his flaws, so his rookie year was solid, and sort of what people expected.

In the micro, having all their picks, some of the talent they have, and having a ton of cap space is a good thing.
In the slightly bigger view, these guys hate each other, a mid to late lottery pick isn’t a huge asset this season (there’s a huge drop off after Zion and Ja), and the shite show over there has been so public that it would have to make people think “Would I want to sign here when I can go to the Clippers or Knicks instead?”
They have about 2-3 months to fix things and that really isn’t enough time to do so given the width and depth of those issues.

I don't think it happens. But there have been multiple talking heads who have hinted that during the conversation Kyrie and Lebron had on the phone where Kyrie apologized for being immature and all that that they also discussed a possible joining of forces again.
I personally don't think it will happen.
I think David Griffin would be a homerun hire for the Lakers and T. Lue would just be more of the same. Walton needs to be cut no matter what but I dont think Lue is any better.

Played well after the all star break and developed a nice 3pt shot.

If Lebron could take coaching direction from a white coach he may have five or six titles by now.
Lue sucks but because he is black he gets Lebrons seal of approval. Speolstra is by far the best coach Lebron has played for and if he had his way Speolstra would have been fired in the first year like Blatt was.
