Systemic racism from a sport were for almost all of its existence the overwhelming majority of players came from Canada, Europe (mainly Scandinavian countries) and Russia...and still do.

The majority of really good hockey players come from places like Western Ontario and the area around Toronto and Quebec but most of these guys come from smaller cities and towns. Plus there are comparatively smaller numbers of black people in Canada as a proportion of the population.
