That's not really under dispute. All LeBron was saying (admittedly in a really poor way) was that NBA owners do a better job of treating their employees as partners in the continued growth and success of the league, as opposed to the NFL which tends to treat players with a heavier hand.

And your comment about replacement value isn’t really that true, at least NFL wise. How many UDFAs are playing these days? A shite ton. Outside of a few positions, NFL teams can dig deep on their rosters as still keep chugging along if the rest of the roster is solid.

I meant Shane Falco replacement level. Those UDFAs are still NFL players.

Employees are not partners. They are employees. In this case, the employees are largely poorly educated compared to the employer.

its kinda funny to me that people are having this take in this thread, but when i start talking about how we shouldnt be mad at KD for simply taking the best job available that any of us would do, i get told "sports arent like any regular job, come on"

That’s kind of an asinine point. NFL teams over the last ten years have been more efficient in UDFA signings and late round picks than ever. That allows teams a lot of freedom to cut or trade unproductive veterans. Do you have a problem with that?

and this is where we fundamentally disagree. Not just in pro sports but in life. If you want to foster and develop talent you should work with them rather than talk down to or at them.

Again, those are still NFL players. I mean replacement as in the guys who come in during a strike or a lockout. The quality of play is DRAMATICALLY worse.

You can treat an employee with respect while still having a clear chain of command. I don't believe that Joe Fratstar who is 6 months out of college should have the same power and level of say as the manager who has been in the office for 5+ years.

I think I see his point but he's using terrible labels that aren't close to accurate.

Maybe if he said nba is like american capitalism while and nfl is more like a successful communism. But that's not totally correct either.

Just another typical know it all liberal spewing hateful, divisive rhetoric

Nba owners are “nicer” because they have to be. Each player on a team has far more importance in basketball due to only 5 players on the court at a time compared to 11

The only football position with that importance is QB. And low and behold, they are treated “nicer” by the owner due to that and have far more say in things

We all knew that. It’s common sense. We don’t need an overgrown toddler equating it to fricking slavery for us to understand

This is the point getting under most of y’all skin...It’s the one statement y’all can’t refute...because who would want to see a all-white league

Nobody is saying that and that's not even really possible in this context anyway. LeBron just said the NBA owners do a better job of treating the players as partners in developing the game as opposed to the NFL where the attitude is the players are just the hired help who don't have a stake in the league or the game and are easily disposable.

And the fact you don’t know why is why we are laughing at you and Lebron

I pretty much shut down your stupid point in here already.

I bet Brian Scalabrini didn’t feel like he had much say in things with the owner though.....

They don't have to at all. Where else is LeBron going to go to make that kind of money? Even as big as basketball is getting the salaries overseas are not in the same ballpark. MAYBE somehow someway they would come up with it for LeBron but how about Solomon Hill? No fricking way, he makes like quadruple what the highest paid EuroLeague player gets.

Sure there would. Football survived when Barry Sanders, Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, etc... retired.

You know who football wouldn't survive without? The owners dishing out the paychecks that it takes to operate a NFL team.
