LeBron has more games and played more minutes played then all of them. Age is less important than miles on a players body. Jordan took a year off and was able to rest those knees, achilles, and ankles.
LeBron has made deep playoff runs for 7 straight seasons.

He would be a sixth man on most rosters in the Eighties and Nineties. Put me down as not impressed.

I'm a millennial who grew up watching Jordan.
James is the superior individual player and talent. Jordan has the better legacy (and always will due to the timing of his superstardom).
James is also a fricking idiot when he tries to act like he knows anything about politics or social issues. That's separate from his basketball abilities, though.

So Jordan playing 3 years of high level basketball at UNC didn't put mileage on his legs?? As far as deep playoff runs, Jordan of course had deep playoff runs the 6 years they won the title and also the previous 2 years the Bulls lost in the conference finals to the pistons. Deep playoff runs 8 out of 9 years = plenty of mileage. LeBron is great but Jordan imo was all time.

I'm not certain the relevance of your year 15 argument. All the players you listed attended college before entering the league so they were all older by year 15. LeBron is 32 in year 15.....when Jordan was 32 he was only in year 9 and averaging 30 points a game with the Bulls.
LeBron is 32 years 308 days old. Regular season and playoffs combined, he's played in 1,287 games for a total of 50,738 minutes in the NBA. MJ at 32 years 308 days, had played in a 829 games for a total of 32,499 minutes, which is 458 fewer games and 19,163 minutes. Even including MJ's 3,107 minutes in college, that's still a 15,056 minute difference.
In fact, Lebron has already played in 36 more games for a total of 2,253 more minutes than Jordan's entire career. And including MJ's college minutes he's only 854 behind, so at the current pace, LeBron should eclipse that in about 24 games.

I love this debate
People get so overly emotional about either player
I'm not a fan or hater of either one so it's all the same to me.

I can't remember any other superstar being so winded in the 4th quarter, in so many big games, so many times. That alone makes him far from the greatest.

There were 30 games in college and they were all played in a regional conference. Also 20% more minutes in a NBA game compared to two 20 minute halves. Not close to the same wear and tear as an 82 game season playing from coast to coast with 48 min games.
Jordan had a better career, but LeBron probably is the better overall player.
Jordan played in the era of the big man under different defensive rules.
LeBron plays in an era where there are 40 + perimeter players capable of scoring 30 + points on any given night.
Positions 1-4 were so much better in LeBron's era.

So minutes played equates to greatness? Argument settled then....Kareem is the GOAT.
All I'm saying is the original argument was a comparison of the year 15 of these athletes careers. Jordan was 39 in year 15 compared to LeBron being 32. Not a very relevant comparison.

I do think Lebron is the goat, but I mostly just like to troll when it comes to Lebron

LeBron lead the league in minutes in his 14th season in the NBA. In the playoffs the team fell apart and blew leads if he sat down for 2 minutes. Him being winded at this point in his career with the amount of minutes is to be expected.
He isn't the same 22 year old full of energy. He is still great in long spurts just doesn't exude the same energy defensively anymore and is exhausted by the end of the 4th.

Think about drafting from the pool of every player ever. And getting the production in these guys' careers. Toss out team accomplishments because the teams these guys play on would be much different.
So now you're basically drafting known production, attempting to build the best team you can.
The length of steady and high level production you'll get from these guys is absolutely important. It's incredibly important.

Just shows a lack of bench depth if you ask me. Those Miami Heat teams and the early Cavs teams had no depth to speak of.

Just finished It on Audible this week. Had never actually read the book. Enjoyed it immensely. Think I'll watch the movie this weekend finally.
