If you’re dumb enough to wait until the last day to vote, you deserve to wait in a three hour line.

Lebron saw ppl wait 2/3 hrs to vote. Said we need to look at our voting system as Racist...yes, waiting in line is racist...

It's been a local and national story and people here don't believe it happened because LeBron said it did.

Is this where celebrities and athletes finally get together and convince people to vote in lockstep in support of candidates and policies that have failed them for 40+ years...but this time it's different and things will change?

This is a terrible problem.

Yes this is the first time a campaign to increase voter turnout has been formed.

Voting isn’t partisan. Everyone who wants to vote should be able to do so easily

It’s not just about the presidential election. More people are realizing that local and state officials impact their lives far more than who is President.

Many of these cities are run by democrats. If they hate the status quo they need to stop blindly voting blue and have to vote for individuals based on policy and history

Nah. I think you got it wrong. People here believe there were long wait times to vote in minority precincts due to poll workers who weren’t prepared to operate new machines and confusion over last minute polling location changes because of the virus.

That’s not my account of what happened, that’s the Fulton County elections director’s words as reported by the AJC.

People don’t believe there was systemic racism and voter suppression just because LeBron says there was.

I understand mischaracterizing the motives of posters here is easier than backing his claims but I’d really like to see you try.

That's the reason I fon't get opposition to LeBron's move. I've always thought it's axiomatic that it's better to have more people voting easily.

So, it's fairly clear there were issues in Georgia that affected some of the most heavily black districts.

You disagree with LeBron about what the nature of the problem shows. But he didn't call GA's Republican Secretary of State a racist and demand he resign.

He created a foundation to help voters. You can disagree with his logic and still think the ultimate step he took is a positive thing.

As far as your comment that I mischaracterized what people said, here's a quote from p.1 of this thread:

quote:

James criticized Georgia's voting system Tuesday after a black woman waited three hours to vote in the state's Democratic primary while there was allegedly no line at a predominantly white polling site

Did anyone buy this? Was there proof of this? Or just one side of the story?

It's a fairly large story that GA officials on the state and county level have apologized for and dude asked if anyone buys it. That's why I said people don't want to believe it if LeBron says it.

Wasn't P Diddy not even registered to vote that whole time or something like that?

I mean, I live in a predominantly black area in metro Atlanta, And it took me less than 30 minutes to vote. From the time I left my car to the time I got back back in.

Sometimes shite happens. Technology fricks up when you need it most. Heck my laptop crashes like once a day while working from it. I don't think just because some voting machines were acting up that it automatically means it were tampered with to not allow black folks to vote.

Don't know why it took so long for her, but as far as no line at a predominantly white polling station...there's probably nobody showing up at some of those precincts because the 2 statewide races (POTUS and US Senate) have Republican incumbents running unopposed in their primaries and several House districts have one Republican running unopposed. What's the point in going to vote in the party primary when there's only one choice? That's why there was no line.

It seems LeBron isn't too concerned about losing money since he is constantly pissing off you " Republicans that buy shoes".
Jordan has been in bed with China since LeBron was in diapers & openly chastised America for it's " ingrained racism" .

LeBron is is actually concerned with domestic issues that he can actually make a little difference unlike Hong Kong. Americans pretending to care about a lost cause like Hong Kong is amusing.

Do they still only count for 3/5 of a vote or something?

I know you think you're being cute, but what the frick does this mean? Buy shoes? I can't remember the last time I bought Nikes, and I don't wear ugly arse basketball shoes, so there's none of my money for him to lose. I'm also not a Republican.

I just find it funny how any criticism of him gets you so upset. I also think it's funny that you think he's capable of providing some sort of insightful social commentary.
