Tourmalet is tomorrow, correct?
I have sadz though for 3 reasons
I cannot watch Movistar just ride around like it is a training ride in the Hill Country and be utterly gutless
I cannot complain that Cofidis will never win a stage in my lifetime, (they pulled the miracle in 23)
No more EuroCar or AG2R ugly kits to complain about
But hey yall it is Tourmalet time

Gaps only realize when there is more than 3 seconds between riders crossing the line, if the gaps stay under 3 everyone is on same time as the person who crossed last with a 3 second plus gap from the last rider to cross. So even though Jonas cross the line 12 seconds behind Pog, there was never a 3 second gap between riders crossing the line given Jonas same time as Pog. It’s a sprint stage thing

Just about did that today & I’m sure he will by the end of the race. Quinn might still be top 10 after today

Really not much left to say about Pog. He’s in a state of excellence we might not see again/long time. Wonder what might bring him down…age, boredom or someone on the horizon? I’m guessing eventually it will be boredom/lack of drive.

He just broke the Tourmalet record by 2 mins and 20 sec. He is 145 pounds of chemistry at its finest. Has anyone seen the power numbers yet?

I have had a hard time taking the GOAT title from Eddie, but the year Pog is having a GOAT year. Another year with the kind of classic wins and another dominant Tour win (assuming he does break a collarbone this year) and I simply won't have an argument left.

Spencer on The Move estimated the numbers at 435 watts for 42 mins so 6.7 watts per kilo. JOnas actually did more watts per kilo (6.8) but he us so light it was only 385W and he looked like a man broken at the end. BTW his Tourmalet was a PR for him and he held the outright record before IIRC.

Sometimes the circumstance of time puts you in a shadow. I imagine the clear second best in many sports that competes during the time of the GOAT always feels like they got a bad shake.

The depth of the talent pool is probably greater than it was in the late 60's through the mid 70s. Plus with the way riders now specialize and target specific objectives during the season...I think that makes Tadej the GOAT.
If you'd told me a few years ago that a modern rider would win MSR, finish 2nd in Roubaix and dominate the Tour, I would have said absolutely no fricking way.

The depth of talent in the sport is a lot higher than Eddy’s era. He was competing against Belgium, France, Italy, Spain. Tadej is competing against the world.
