Idk, having them zoom out and seeing a bunch of farmers culling their cows could make for some great TV. Phil can mumble his way through an explanation as the helicopter films it
Posted on 7/24/25 at 4:23 pm to Ingeniero
Phil would probably call them elk given his current state of focus

Everytime I see him and GC contender in the same breath I laugh

Pogacar is just on a level that no one else can come close to. I realize we’re witnessing greatness but it’s honestly boring to watch
UAE setting tempo and Pog sitting on wheels is boring and reminiscent of the Sky train, but that is not the attacking style of racing that Pog is famous for. The TdF is kind of boring with the GC all settled up, but that’s why the classics and monuments are always more exciting than the Tour. Tell me that Tadej effing Pogacar nearly winning Paris Roubaix if not for a crash isn’t exciting…!
The Giro and Vuelta are also usually more exciting - Yates won the Giro this year on the last day against a UAE phenom and that kept the race entertaining until the end. Chances are taken at the Giro and the Vuelta that aren’t at the Tour. Froome won the 2018 Giro by attacking the descents. He lost the 2016 Vuelta on the Formigal when the whole field attacked. So yeah, the Tour and TdF specialists like Jonas V are boring compared to guys who will race a Camaro like Tadej.

How disheartening must it be to have your main rival for the GC casually ride in front of you just before the finish line every stage so you never make up any ground. Obviously that's Pog's strategy , build up a lead and do just enough to maintain it and nothing more.

Froome won the 2018 Giro by attacking on the same climb Yates went on this year. Made up a 3 minute deficit on Dumolin.
Yates also full cracked that day Froome went losing 25 minutes or something like that. That’s why this giro was so special for him

Hey look Tadej attacks up the last climb and blows everyone away w Jonas on his wheel … for now
Arensman w an RKO outta nowhere.
I imagine Tadej and Jonas catch him if they just simply try

Tadej lets Arensman win. Interesting. Vinde picks up 1 second lol

I honestly think he doesn't have it these past few days. That's unlike him.

These guys are completely cooked
The insanely aggressive racing in week 1 with a late rest day made the 3rd week unwatchable.

All the stages that were supposed to be big felt like 2 exhausted boxers staring at each other the last few rounds of a big fight. Or, from Tadej's POV, a football team slowly running out the clock with the lead.

i used to watch the daily coverage RAW, then the edited version later in the day w/ commentary and post-race info.
i've all but lost my desire to watch like that. i'm just not invested in jonas or pogacar; they are not interesting.
gone is the drama of 'the look' or lance waiting for ullrich to pull himself out of a ditch and catch back up on a climb or even lance fricking with that narc rider who ratted out dr ferrari and not letting him get in a breakaway or entire teams getting dismissed from the tour on the second day of the TDF for testing positive for drugs
so much more fun 20 years ago. i miss paul sherwin
eta yeah lance was dirty but SO WAS frickING EVERYONE ELSE.
contador, riis, ullrich all busted for drugs but got to keep their wins.
lance & floyd busted, wins were wiped away. hmm, i wonder why. can't have american dominate the sport can we?
in case you forgot, Oscar Pereiro, who was declared winner after Landis disqualified... was also busted for doping in the very same tdf. but its ok, thats different and he wasn't a peddling mennonite from pennsylvania.

quote:yup. cyclists have always been pissy little bitches monitoring every single calorie and gram of weight so this feeds into their need to control everything and makes the race much less interesting.
It just all feels too calculated sometimes

This is bullshite
Yes, it has been the case for the last four mountain stages but one if the bigger criticisms of Pogacar has been the fact that he was riding "recklessly" when he didn't need to. See all of last year and the first two weeks of this tour.
