lol at Auburn dominating Oregon yet only winning on a FG as time expires that may be the dumbest thing I have ever read on this website

Almost as dumb as everyone's opinion that Alabama dominated LSU in game 1 and only lost by a FG...almost

(and the 2012 NC game has nothing to do with this point)

Auburn held Oregon to 75 rushing yards on 32 attemps (2.3 ypc), James had only 44 rushing yards. Oregon was averaging 303 rushing yards per game before the NC game.

He is retarded. He thinks last years Oregon team had a better D, specifically DBs, than LSU.

You still couldn't stop our below average passing game. Darron also helped out making some piss poor decisions in the read option.

However, the point is that Chip was close with far less talent than he has now.

Oregon got their best oline class ever in last year's class and their best dline class. Chip's first two classes all enrolled and no one has left the program. Watch Oregon take it to the next level.

We couldn't stop anyone's passing game, all year. Hell, around 95 of those yards came on one play because of Neiko Thorpe. Worst damn starting SEC CB I've ever seen.

I don't think anyone said Oregon's d was better than LSU's...not even flyinpac.

Context buddy, Context. Make sure you understand my claims in Context. The Context when I made that claim was way before our game and well, Cliff Harris had the most amazing year at CB for us. And despite everyone knowing we were loaded at RB, we were actually even more loaded at CB and had a huge logjam there. But many things happened before our game in Dallas. 1)We had a good CB decide to not return to the team- so we lost one. 2)We had another good CB that got frustrated by the logjam there and switched to WR. And then our best one, Mr. 1st team All American went 118mph and had a weed fest. We lost him to the LSU game and even worse he went into our coaches doghouse and virtually he missed all of last season- his pride causing him to have all sorts of more off field problems.

So while I did write that, way before our game, it was in the Context of what we had from the previous season coming back and expectations. Keep in mind, our players at the time, not just CB for all DB's were higher ranked All Americans, or higher ranked all Conference guys. And only in hind-site are you able to look back, from that whole last season, and clearly think it was ridiculous. But the fact remains, at the time I wrote it, it clearly was not. And you all never got to see the Magic of Cliff Harris against you, who many nationally regarded at the time as the best single cover corner entering that year.

I only thought we had a better DB unit, not overall D. And removing myself from bias, I based that on other National sports writers who know our team well and what we had; at the time of me writing that. Context, Context, Context- at publication.

Just to continue the conversation...

I would've taken 3 SEC cornerbacks over Cliff Harris at the beginning of last season. That's just from the SEC. Dre Kirkpatrick, Morris Claiborne, and Casey Hayward. It would've been 4, but Janoris Jenkins got in trouble and transferred to UNA.

Omar Bolden was considered a better prospect at ASU and Trevin Wade was highly regarded as well. Cliff got accolades for making big plays. He has a knack for doing that and doing that very well. Too bad he couldn't keep it straight.

You may indeed be right, now, in hind-site from what we know today or had seen all year last year. But going back in time, to a year ago, there is not many national sports writers who would of wanted any of those guys over Cliff Harris, back then from the incredible 2010 season he had. He was simply Magic back then... And personally I have never had the most pleasure of watching a kid run with a ball in his hands since Bush of USC and going back to when I was a kid and watching The Rocket Ishmael of ND.

But I agree with you now. I would take any of those guys over Cliffy if I was a Head Coach and building a CFB team now. Cliffy, after he half way got out of Chip kelly's dog house for the early part of last year had lost all his Confidence, Swag, Mojo, and he just looked lost out there as if he no longer was having fun and one could tell his head was not in the game. But oh man, if you really watched him, 2009 and esp 2010 season he had this swag that he could take on the world, and he pretty much did. He was simply Magic. And while DAT is special to watch run, my boy DAT does not have a third of the swag or juke moves and whatever Cliffy had 2010.

And since you are a Auburn fan TTsTowel, if you are finding it hard to believe me, watch this short Youtube interview of your Head coach and Auburn players talk about Cliffy before the Natty...(though granted they are talking about his Punt return skills...)And Keep in mind these are SEC people saying this about him and Auburn players and Coaches...

Hell for the SEC Darron Thomas is Johnny U.

For how dominant the SEC has been (and they have with great D-lines), it's pretty pathetic how their own QBs pretty much suck...Easier to prick your ears back and demolish rushing attacks when you're accustomed to jr. high RB screen/swing route passing attacks.

I find it sort of ironic that a below par passer in the Pac 12 could pass all over Auburn and LSU.
