I am not a Lafayette area golfer but I did get to play the Wetlands last weekend. I thought it was a wonderful course really enjoyed it.

The Farm
Wetlands
Squirrel
Vieux
Spanish
Abbeville
Muni

The Farm Is always in good shape and Squirrel is most of the time but they messed it up when they added the third 9 to it. Wetlands is just a different layout than everything else. Spanish Trail is a fun layout but they don't have much money to keep it up all year and Abbeville and Muni just suck.

I got lessons from the female pro at the Farm. I can't remember her name. She was ok. I know Squirrel Run has a great teaching program from what I've heard. But I hear it's hard to get scheduled.

I don't think the farm is overpriced. It's in line with the cost of other courses like it. As far as value, I think that most will say the farm or the wetlands.

And you have a golfer in your sig?!?!?!

Oakbourne is night and day better than any course listed and is considered the best course in Lafayette over Le Triomphe....

Oh and this is the correct answer.....

The farm just is the winner by an edge for me. Wetlands is very open and forgiving. I play Wetlands the most and would recommend that course.

I live 2 minutes from Vieux and have never played the Wetlands. Looking forward to it.

I have never played the Wetlands either. I live 5 minutes from Vieux, but I don't like playing there because it's always packed. I live 10 minutes from Spanish Trail and I love that course. When I play there i go in the afternoon on saturday's and the course is damn near empty, except for some regulars.

Spanish doesn't have a website. What's their weekday, weekend and Twilight rates?

The Wetlands
Squirrel Run
The Farm
Spanish Trail

Basically a toss up between the last three. I hate Vieux Chenes. I always get a ball stolen at Muni. Abbeville is barely a golf course.

So have you ever played Oakbourne or are you just saying that because you heard it is "considered" the best course in Lafayette? I am a member at Oakbourne, and I much prefer the Wetlands or the Farm.

The thing that sets Oakbourne apart IMO is the practice facilities. They have the best driving range, practice green, and putting green in the region. But as far as the actual course, the Wetland is more fun to play and the Farm is usually in the best condition. The fairway grass there is pristine.

The OP asked what your personal preference is anyway, so I gave mine.

I freaking hate Vieux Chenes. If you go on a weekend, you better be ready to play a 5-6 hour round. WAY too many people on that course, and way too many slow players. It's the go to course for people that don't know how to play worth a shite
