Bad thing is that is someone other than Sam or McNeese wins the tourney it will basically eliminate one of them. I really can't see the SLC getting more than 2 teams in.
Only way Sam gets in right now is if they win. Their RPI is 100. McNeese and SELU are both in the Top 50.
Unless that significantly improves, they have to win the auto-bid to get in. If that were to happen, it would be interesting to see what the committee does, especially if McNeese and SELU finish in the Top 50 in RPI. If McNeese is still Top 30, I think they are in regardless. SELU may be a bit more borderline in the 40s depending on how many low RPI teams win Conference Tournaments.

LSU was #24 in RPI and was left out. You never know what the committee will do.

What's going to kill SLU is that we are 11-5 against the RPI top 100, but 8-7 against the RPI 101-200. Losing 5 to HBU and TAMU-CC is going to be an albatross if we are a bubble team.

The committee has made some VERY interesting decisions over the years.
Using Northwestern State as an example
Demons in 2001 went 38-17 including a 10-8 win over LSU
Demons in 2002 went 43-17 in the regular season. Ended up losing to Lamar in 10 innings (at Lamar) in the tournament championship
Both teams won the SLC regular season title and both got snubbed by the selection committee
Point being, in the SLC the only way to assure a spot in the postseason is by winning the tournament.

They also had a losing record against the RPI Top 50. I think something like 17 losses against them? And didn't make the SEC Tournament (finished 5th or 6th in the West?).
I'm not saying McNeese will make it. I'm saying they have a better shot than Sam of making it without winning the Conference Tournament, contrary to what the guy I responded to said.

That was me and I agree. I think McNeese has the best chance of getting an at-large. Aside from Sam Houston I don't see anyone with a shot at getting one. I only say Sam as it looks like they may cruise to the conference title, which can earn some goodwill with the committee.

Sam will end up like SLU in 2015 when we went 42-17 and 25-5 in conference, but didn't win the tournament or get an at-large bid.
I think McNeese or SLU have a chance at an at-large if McNeese keeps taking care of business and SLU stops losing series they should win, and keep winning the toss-ups (have to beat Sam in a few weeks). Both should finish with ~35 wins and a top 40 RPI. Best case scenario is they both make the championship and I think both get in, like SLU and Sam last season.

This is why this thread has been 'ruined,' and no one wants to post on it anymore.

Ironic that you call Tech ladies when you bleed out every time someone mentions the word Lafayette.

That game was so dang irritating for Cajun fans. Burk pitched his arse off against a Top 5 program, and was thanked by multiple failures to get a guy home from 3rd with less than 2 outs.

For what it's worth, both teams stranded a runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs twice.

Yeah, it's been a problem for us all season long. Has to be frustrating for our pitchers to watch.

Nope, you're still the reason bud.

Because when y'all lose to us in football your recruiting to the school will go down hill as for ULM it will go up. We have nothing to lose in football but y'all have everything to lose if we beat y'all. Tech scared of ole ULM

ULM has been an embarrassment in baseball. Totally unacceptable. Does Peddie get fired at the end of the year and who do the Warhawks go after as the next coach? We're finally putting money towards football so will we start putting money towards baseball and other sports and start competing for conference championships?

Baseball America Regional Projection Thread
Saw this on The Rant. Baseball America has LSU as the only National Seed from the SEC in their latest projection. More interesting however is BA's projected #2 Seed in the Baton Rouge Regional...McNeese State!
That sure would be something to see McNeese garner a #2 Seed. That would obviously mean finishing strong, winning both the Regular and Tournament Southland Conference Titles.

Me so hurt. JK: can't be hurt because this thread is still alive and well, so your post is just stupid.
