Seems like a horrible fit like Westbrook and Harden

Two major differences

One, Luka is capable of being a pass first guard and still maintain and elite level of efficiency. Neither Harden or Westbrook are capable of that, statistically speaking.

Two, Kyrie is SIGNIFICANTLY more efficient than Westbrook . Like it’s not even close. Which means Dallas has two elite efficiency players whereas Houston just had one.

The problem in Houston was that Westbrook is an inefficient volume shooter who is pretty useless when he isn’t dominating the ball, and Harden while extremely efficient in his prime had to shoot and get to the line A LOT in order to maintain that efficiency.

Because most fans don’t understand that the cumulative offensive efficiency of high scoring guards and wings is really what determines how good you are in the modern NBA.

Dallas now has two of the 10 most efficient guards not just in the NBA at present, but in the last 30 years. Statistically if Kyrie maintains his present production it’s the most offensively efficient backcourt the league has seen since peak Klaus/Steph, and before that Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars over 30 years ago.

Harden is leading the league in assist by a mile and has a better TS than Luka this season.

Lukas career best TS (this season) is still lower than hardens career TS.

Why do people think this isn’t a good fit? Kyrie has played with LeBron and Harden. He is an incredible second option for high usage players. His problem is off court shite.

The question is: Does Kyrie think this is a good long-term fit? Otherwise, Dallas just blew up their franchise for a rental. Even if Kyrie resigns with the Mavericks he has left his last 3 teams in disarray.

im sorry for the Mavs.

props to NETS gm for grand theft.

desperate overpay.

somewhere theres a grad student with stats on this.
there is a non zero % chance kyrie will decide to abandon dallas in the 7th game of wcf. at halftime he leaves the building and is next seen playing for Shanghai.

Well yeah. But that’s a pretty big problem.

Remember when he got into with Steve Nash and Kyrie asked if he could see Kobe’s MVP trophies in front of the entire team while they were at a team during at Nash’s house

Dude is a train wreck

By trading a lesser point guard, a 3 and D wing and a first rounder we won't see for over half a decade?

So if it doesn't work and he goes elsewhere, they have a blank slate to re-sign Wood and/or go after anyone

Dallas just is not a superstar free-agent destination. This move smacks a little of desperation. I'm sure Dallas is all in on resigning Kyrie or this makes zero sense. By getting him now they get Kyrie's "Bird Right." Kyrie is enough of a businessman to push the issue during the trade deadline and now qualifies to get max-max money.

However, if Dallas gets destroyed in the playoff, all bets are off.
