“I’ll talk to my family and stuff and really see if I want to continue to sacrifice as much as I’m sacrificing right now. I’m putting my body through a lot to just try to get ready to play every single night. To do what I’m doing right now, it’s not easy. I’ll tell you, it’s taken a lot of commitment.”

Is your sense that next season will be your last?

“As I sit here right now, yeah.”

Is there anything the Lakers can say that would make it more likely you played beyond next season?

“No,” Bryant told NBA.com. “It’s my decision. It’s really about what I want to do, if I want to train and be psychotic with my training. That’s what it comes down to. It’s really how I’m feeling physically.”

no way. he wants the all-time scoring title, even if he shoots 20% from here on out to get it

Honestly I would rather see him go out as an elite player rather than waiting until he really starts to take a step back. It's amazing with all the games he has played that he still plays at this level.

Sounds like he's laying the ground work for another contract. If the lakers thought they may get a discount after his current deal runs out, they just got a shot across the bow. No way in hell Kobe stops playing on his own. He's going to have to be cut by every team in the association before he stops

I bet if they can make a run next year he'll be back. He's got a lot of basketball left in him.

He is just letting Howard think he is retiring so he will be more inclined to resign with the Lakers this offseason

I can believe this, dude has to be mentally drained

the shite he has to go through everyday just to be ready for the next game has to be tough as shite

no matter how hard he works, he can still break down easy cause he is old, which has to kill him

he has devoted his whole life to bball and that is all he has thought about

Sportscenter showed a graphic earlier today that listed the top 5 highest scoring averages by a NBA player in his 18th season. Karl Malone holds the record with 20.6 points, and holds it by a significant amount, ( a few points per game I beleive)

Kobe will demolish that record next year

It really is amazing. Too bad LeBron overshadows him.

I saw something that said that Kobe has averaged 27.8 points per game in his last 14 seasons.
