2020 was a shite year. Just like when I first heard Magic had HIV I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard Kobe died.

Still remember that day

I wasn't a Kobe fan, even though he always had my respect

It felt like America, at least the entertainment side, just stopped for a day in awe

Probably because I’m young, but that was the first ‘celebrity’ death that truly had me shocked

I have a little girl who is 8 and I put myself in his shoes for moment in time after the details came out. He didn't deserve that exit with his girl.

LeBron passed him on the NBA Scoring List the night before.

How is that charity his wife started? LINK

quote:

The nonprofit honoring Kobe Bryant and his daughter had over $27 million in net assets by the end of 2022. It spent $481,953 that year, primarily on legal, accounting and executive pay.

Really sad day. Had just retired and had
A chance to live a great life and raise his kids.. he worked so hard to get where he was and then in an instant it was gone.. take nothing for granted.

I remember where I was when I heard it. Very sad.

When he retired, I found the NBA to be a worse off product

That was a HUGE reminder of mortality for a lot of sports fans.

It didn't. It kept going just like whether if anyone dies famous or not. That's the cold hard truth.

Damn pilot should’ve grounded that chopper, complete fog cover. No reason whatsoever they should’ve been in the air.

Damn shame. The autopsy drawings are really awful to look at, I was sent them by a friend and didn’t know what I was looking at for a second. If you’ve never seen them don’t go looking

I meant in the context that George Floyd was like 3 months later, then riots, then COVID, then election and J6 and aftermath.

Kobes death was the last time that 95% of Americans agreed on something of significance and reacted together in a unified fashion.
