TMZ is a piece of shite organization. Kobe's family found out through social media and TV that their husband, father, sister and daughter died in a helicopter crash before the Sheriff's Office could tell them in person.

I would bet a lot of money TMZ found out either from someone in the SO, or someone in Kobe’s camp. They reported a very high profile news story, which is their job. Welcome to 2005.

The crash was 9:45 am PST. That’s 11:45 here. The TMZ came out at like 1:30 here.

according to the TMZ story,

Exactly what most everyone is saying. The sheriff is just pissed because he has a deputy leaking stories to TMZ for money under the table.

The story spread like wildfire on every other outlet right after they reported it. They make money reporting on stories like this, whether you like it or not. If they didn’t post the story, someone else would’ve.

If anyone knows about a high profile death like this, it's not going to be contained for long. That's just the way things are. TMZ isn't the problem, they're a symptom.

You said it yourself. They reported it first.

You're saying this like it's a problem that should be cared about.

I don't care.

There is not a single shite to be given about TMZ's desire to be the first to break the story, especially not when there is a human and ethical cost to doing so.

Continue to defend that trash site tho.

1:40 is closer to 2 hours that I had in my original post than to either your just over an hour or booms 30 minutes

Doesn't even have to be a deputy either. It could have been someone in the control tower at the airport. They'd know exactly what aircraft went down and could more than likely attain the passenger manifest.. Completely unrelated, but when Bill Clinton met with Loretta Lynch on the tarmac, it was a local news station that broke the story because the reporter had sources at the airport.

And yet people, including you, keep defending them and their lack of ethical standards in this very thread.

So logic this out for us. What’s the solution? Wait for the family to approve reporting on it?
