Yep. The worst was getting hit on the helmet with a whistle. Make your ears ring so bad you couldn't hear anything

That quote was taken completely out of context.

i had a coach walk up and throw me to the ground by my mask because i shot a gap and missed a trap play 2x in a row. not saying it's ok and he was indeed an a-hole, but i learned not to shoot a gap again.

Bobby Knight was a molder of young men and an American treasure. He would have eaten Millenials for breakfast.

Once he started winning, his manners improved. In the 50's, he was regarded as a holy terror.

Funny that ESPN was the one behind this. How long did they have him on their pregame show. Everything that was on the 30/30 was widely known, yet they still hired him.

Bunch of hypocrites.

And I don't care for Knight at all. You can be a hard-nosed, disciplinarian and not be a raging a-hole.

In high school we had a baseball coach that would throw a ball at you if you weren’t paying attention at practice. Dude played in the minors for a couple years.

Was wondering when someone would bring this fact up

Let's put Bobby Knight in the correct context. At heart he is a military general who happens to coach basketball. In boot camp the military tries to strip you free thinking so you can think irrationally and have a commitment to your fellow soldiers and flag that does not make any rational sense. Bobby Knight treated every season like boot camp and has won some impressive wars.

How many teams have Brenda Tracey and Jon Gordon really improved? Every team Brenda Tracy has spoken to this year has gotten worse. Who has Jon Gordon helped besides Clemson and maybe the Rams?

Being positive, I am a victim and my feeling are the only rational thing on earth are not the values we should be raising the youth on.

Was Knight out of line? Yes. But I would take a student of Genral Patton to lead me over a CNN lover who thinks being positive can cure all!

That might have been the best 30 for 30. Well done.

The incident that got him fired was tame, but he was on zero tolerance probation because he choked a player, lied about it, and them got busted because there was a video.

Knight was a great coach and teacher, and I’d love to have played for him. Ultimately, though, he was a bully, and it sullied an otherwise great career. He projected strength but ultimately is weak in character.

You can both think Knight was an a-hole (which he was) and think this was a piece of liberal hack journalism from a network pushing it's agenda (which it is). They're not mutually exclusive ideas.

All I can say is that there is some serious ignorance in this thread
