this thread is like the hester v. mcfadden thread, except the OP was being serious and not trolling
*ETA: it's also a closer player value debate than the other, but the OP's seriousness makes up for that and more

Harden is fun to watch, but 44% volume scorers generally don't lead teams to championships (vince carter, mcgrady, Areans, Iverson, Carmelo, etc)

Houston has more pieces around Harden than all of those teams had around those other guys and a top 5 D. It's easy for me to see clutch city in the finals this year.

its not impossible (paul pierce) but we'll see which side he ends up on

barring injuries, i see houston v. miami
houston has built a really nice squad, and i can see them matching up with the spurs well in the playoffs
when howard and asik gel, that rim protection and pick and roll D will be amazing

Yea I can't see Houston moving Asik unless there's a season ending injury to one of the perimeter players. Morey has said that he values 48 min of elite rim protection/interior D more than a starting stretch 4. Casspi looks like he'll be able to fill that role coming off of the bench.

it really is like a computer program built their team
2 elite rim protectors and pick and roll defenders on defense
you have 2 decent-good perimeter defenders in parsons and beverly, also
a bunch of 3s and drives on offense using lots of pick and rolls. if they could get 1-2 more deadeye 3point guys, i could see them beating miami

Yeah Houston will be very good unless Dwight goes into bitchass Dwight mode. I'm kind of anxious to see how Houston would handle that.

McHale and Hakeem should be able to keep him in line.

Kobe shot like 45-46% from 08-10.

Is Houston running plays specifically for Dwight or is he getting points off of putbacks and shite?

Mostly putbacks. They have run plays to get him the ball on the low block but he hasn't been good at finishing. He turns it over and misses a lot of gimmes around the rim.

Yeah that's what I thought. You would hope Dwight would be ok with that because it's for the betterment of the team BUT this is Dwight Howard we're talking about.

Oh this thread is still ongoing?

Antdavis will be much better than harden by the time he reaches harden's current age. Actually, he's already better.

Color me unconvinced that Harden will be able to play 3 series in a row at a consistent level to be there with Miami. Effectiveness in the playoffs has been the Achilles heel of his career this far minus the Conf. Finals against the Spurs in 2011.
Will always love Harden for his time in OKC, but if the officials ever swallow their whistles on borderline calls (like they seem to do in the playoffs), he can disappear in a hurry.

There is a board where you can post this kind of stuff and get all of the ehigh 5's you're looking for.

And perhaps he will shoot better when we win back-to-back. He's shooting 52.1% through three games. It's crazy, but shooting percentage goes up when you are surrounded by better players.
