AD is going to accept a trade to just the Knicks
He’d need to know other people are going there

He would have no say in the matter, honestly.

Plus his presence on a team might make other players feel differently about signing there.

If you’re the Knicks you throw the kitchen sink at New Orleans with the hopes of ensuring a better chance at inking Durant.

If you’re Boston/LAC/LAL/DarkHorse Team, you either:

A. Up your offer for the same reason

or

B. Up your offer to prevent other teams from snagging him

Pels in a really good spot here.

Let’s not allow this to detract from the fact that you said, in all seriousness, that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was “one of the best” PGs in the league and then refused to explain why.

Uh, yeah he does. If he tells the Knicks he isn't resigning after a year, it's basically over.

The Knicks are dumb, but throwing the kitchen sink on a one year rental is another level of dumb.

Asks for big market

Gets biggest market in the NBA

Sabotages trade beforehand by flat out promising not to re-sign

Does that seem likely to you?

I'm surprised SDV's source wasn't Clipperholics.com

When you toss in the Knicks would have no one alongside him and he's locked in to sub .500 seasons, yeah.

He can go to other big markets where winning is a possibility.

You’re right.
But i think if AD does go to the Knicks
I see them getting another FA

That said I see none of that happening to the Knicks

Durant isn't leaving GS if they win without him this year. Hes very shallow, and wont want the flack that that he sees LeEgo getting, for his disastrous LAL decision

That didnt stop OKC and Toronto from taking the risk. Worked out for OKC and more than likely not for Toronto. Plus, AD's name is already mud in most NBA fans minds. I seriously doubt he wants to run the risk of being hated even more.

Okc and Toronto were playoff teams though with a chance at a playoff run to help keep them.

If they get kd and kyrie before he's traded than yea I could see them taking a chance then.

Yep. There's a big difference between hoping you can change someone's mind with Westbrook or a deep playoff run in Toronto and hoping you can change someone's mind with Frank Ntilikina and Lance Thomas.

Fans over estimate how much players concern themselves with winning. For most of these guys its all about money and lifestyle. If the Thunder can convince George to live in no mans land Oklahoma, then the Knicks wont have much trouble convincing AD to stay in the Big Apple. If he left as a free agent after one year he loses roughly $50 million in salary, plus any Madison Avenue endorsement deals given to him for being in New York. George wasn't willing to leave that $50 million on the table and neither will AD.

I mean he's going to NY but let's add some pretend drama to this anyway.

Trade will be agreed to before free agency

AD will be the first domino in this scenario assuming he chooses not to commit to the Pelicans
