Seems like the players have a lot more faith in Mettenberger than the coaches and front office does. Or the players just might not like Mariota's prospects as a NFL QB very much.

Nothing new, the oilers/titans front office drafting something they don't need. They had WAYYYYY more important holes to fill than drafting a flashy big name QB.

As devastated as I was when the Oilers left Houston, I'm so much happier with the Texans management.

That's the problem with teams that will always stay at the bottom, constantly bringing in new QB's. Why they didn't leverage that 2nd pick for a haul to build their team all over blew my mind. Mariota isn't going to help that team right away.

Yeah if what has been reported about the Eagles offer for that pick is true, then the Titans FO are complete morons for not taking that.

Or conversely you could interpet that as showing how highly valued Marriota was so why would you give it a QB with that much perceived value? I don't know who will be better, but I think the overwhelming favorite--by a wide margin--would be Marriotta.

I dont. He might end up being better. Mett easily might not be the answer but i really doubt Mariotta will be. That team was so void of talent drafting a qb and not trading back was just flat out stupid.

Mariotta probably has more upside than Mett. But regardless of who your QB is, he won't be able to do anything without a line that can keep him from running for his life.

It's hard as hell in the NFL to find a competent QB. The Titans have one in Mett, but he or now Martiotta, won't be in a position to be at their best because they will be getting killed.

Tony Romo is exhibit A of how much better a good offensive line can make a QB.

Or you could just see it as Chip Kelly going full retard for an Oregon player.

To become the next Akili Smith.

You need a good QB to win in the NFL and Mettenberger is awful. The Titans got their guy.

He's not awful but i understand if you think he's not the future. But have you actually seen how Mariotta looks when he throws with a bit of pressure and isnt just throwing a quick 3 step pass? He's pretty bad too.

Well Chip had a good track record, and it's not like Tennessee and Philly were the only ones that had Marriotta rated very highly. You generally need a good QB to have success. I understand other needs so you can't neglect them. That being said, Mariotta is more likely to be a good NFL QB than Matt, who has an OK chance himself; therefore, they've now increased the likelihood that they have a QB on their roster that will be good and they can build around.

They got A guy. He's going to get crushed behind that line and will bust out just like all other Oregon QB's.

In Chip's defense he has an outstanding track record as a head coach both in college and the NFL so he deserves the benefit of the doubt at this point.

By the way, the rumors of the Eagles offering that package for Mariota appear to be false and it looks like it was the media trying to drum up drama and ratings for the draft.

Dude trying to discuss this rationally on here is a major waste of time.

This board would like to make you think Mett is the next Tom Brady.
