So was Nick Saban.

They're all using university funds, you're naive to believe LSU isn't doing the same

There is a myth out there that if you're in the state of Texas you're magically infused with oil money.

I hear what you’re saying, but Houston is very much a commuter school. Like UAB, Georgia State, UCF, MTSU, Memphis and the like … the students, alums, and locals’ support and investment isn’t there. Sure, they might have a big donor or two, but the alums, more than not, support other schools. Houston also isn’t really drawing in a “t-shirt fanbase” like Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and so on.

Also, for all intents and purposes, UT, A&M, SMU, Texas Tech, Baylor, and TCU aren’t short on cash …

Cenac got $1.3M from them last year, I believe we stopped at a million. He's doing okay, not great or worth the money at all though 9ppg.

UH is a commuter school. Very little alum truly give a shite about their athletics.

Didn’t they outbid LSU for that highly rated center from New Orleans?

The good thing for the cougs is that this year they finally get a full share of the conference payout. The first 2 years in big 12, they got 18 and 19 million. This after being in the AAC where they got nothing. A full big 12 payout should be pretty good but they do need to attract more season ticket holders. For being poor, their facilities are decent.

Well that's interesting considering that Houston spends more on basketball than we do.

They signed a top 3 class in the country last year. Those players (who lead the team in pts, rebs and ast) didn’t come to UH for free.

I would guess the number is far smaller than that.

Houston is a pro sports city. It’s hard to get support for college sports there.
