I would probably do it if I were either.

Spurs get younger, C's now have a legit shot at title with Kyrie healthy

Kawhi's uncle is trying to protect and ensure he gets that max extension right?

Injury concern is the only reason why he wouldn't get it. Lingering quad issue. Torn acl like the unicorn. Torn Achilles like Boogie. Talks around the league that boogie shouldn't be offered the max although realistically a healthy boogie would command it. That's gotta be in the mind of kawhi and his group.

He already missed most of the season at that point, hold him out and protect him. Itd be different if it was coming back to start the season as opposed to 50-60 games into it obviously

you ALWAYS win NOW in the NBA if given the chance. You don't wait, so you trade for Kawhi, keep Kyrie, get back Hayward, keep Horford, Monroe, Marcus Smart, and you win a title now, not 5 years from now

yeah and boston could with kyrie and gordon healthy. Kawhi is mehhhh. Vastly overrated player, zero leadership, scared to put a team on his back.

Precisely.

Let's say they trade Tatum, smart, and a 1st.

PG: Irving/rozier/larkin
SG: Hayward/Brown
SF: Leonard/Brown
PF: horford/morris
C: baynes/whoever else

Your small ball lineup is
Irving/Hayward/brown/kawhi/horford

That is 5 legitimate stars. All can pass. All can shoot. All can defend decent.

I love Tatum, I think he's gonna be a star. But that lineup is guaranteed championship potential. That doesn't require banking on Tatum and brown to keep improving.

Ah his uncle may be trying to force a trade to a bigger market. Nobody knows what the uncle is doing. that uncle can make way more than the super max if kawhi ends up in LA. he only get a paltry 5 mil a year shoe deal offer in San Antonio. He can make up the difference in the super max easy. Just by going to LA he gets 10 mil more a year just on shoe deal.

Ie NIKE lowball him on shoe deal bc they want a big name player in LA! No more kob. No more CP. trying to push kawhi there.

I think the multiple star injuries this year is why the uncle is acting a certain way. Like you said, who knows what he's thinking, but I think securing that contract comes first. Forcing a trade is second.

Lakers/clippers/Celtics won't trade for a torn acl/Achilles kawhi. They'll trade for this current one though.

I don't think the fans are going to get what they want even if he isn't traded.

Does anyone think they can rely on Kawhi at this point? This entire year has been a gigantic red flag.

You obviously bring him in for a physical.

If I'm Boston, I'd offer Brown, Smart (sign and trade), and a first. I don't think I give up more than that.

The Spurs may actually be okay with that deal, as they won 47 games without Kawhi this season.

said same thing his whole career. he is a top notch defender. but is mehh overall. He cant win without tim, just like pop cant. They have been overvalued their whole career. Not saying either suck.. but overrated from what the majority think they are

I gotta admit that I have moved Timmy up a few notches in the all time list seeing how it has fallen apart out there since he left. what a leader. The numbers alone could never capture his value as a player.

IMO, a sign and trade for LBJ is something the Spurs should explore. Best player with best coach would be interesting.

Just cuz you said the same thing his whole career doesn’t make it any less retarded.

He is top 5 in the league both ways. Don’t be ridiculous

Look at what Paul George went for before the hindsight. Players that want out don’t usually draw that much.

If LeBron really does leave, this is the best case scenario for the Cavs

I don't remember how bad it was but I don't think George wanting out was anywhere close to as bad as this is

The problem with George wasn't that he wanted out. Kawhi wants out and we are debating if both brown and Tatum need to be involved. We never did that with George. Wanting out doesnt tank trade value because it still creates a marketplace where different teams will bid against one another. The difference in the situation with George is that he out right told people he was coming to the Lakers this summer no matter what happens. That killed his trade value
