Has anyone used the AAF app / gambling part? I know it got a lot of press before the season, but haven't heard anything about it recently, and I haven't used it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that smells something nasty here.

Doesn't this go against the principle of fiduciary responsibility?
What we don't know is, what is his exact financial/ownership situation in the league. If he owns more than 50% of the league stock, it's going to be hard to prove a violation of fiduciary duty. If it's under 50%, hells yes.
But even, they aren't a publically traded company, so any course of action has to come through the courts. And even if he is found liable to pay some damages, that, plus the 70 million he sunk into the league, may still be a bargain for the tech.

Never used it as I haven't gambled on sports since high school when I lost what I thought was a sure bet to a rabid NC State fan and had to shave my head. I guess I can thank Chris Weinke for throwing all those picks and helping Florida State lose their second AAC game ever for not being a degenerate gambler.

He started over as a back-room finance associate at a used-car dealership, quickly figuring out that there was more money to be made in financing used cars than selling them – especially to people with bad credit. They could be charged high interest rates, but they’d still do whatever they could to make the payments, because if their cars were repossessed, they’d often lose their jobs. That kept default rates down. Dundon made millions.
Guy should be gelded.

Don’t worry. We’re not folding. #XFL2020

Not too surprising. League was mostly ignored by casual fans and attendance wasn’t great.
Hopefully the XFL will do better.

That's not the issue here.

So basically they got swindled by a giant douche bag? Sounds about right.
Posted on 4/2/19 at 4:52 pm to AlonsoWDC
It isn't but it's a factor. If the league had overflow crowds and top notch ratings they might not have had to bring in Dundon in the first place. At the very least they would've had more options who probably weren't just in it for parts.

I didn’t think it would fall apart this quickly. So what keeps the same thing from happening to the XFL next year?
Posted on 4/2/19 at 5:01 pm to saintsfan22
You do realize operating income and profit are not the same thing, right?

The XFL won't have to bring in an outside investor to inject cash early on. Vince already secured the leagues funding by selling off WWE stock for a frick ton of money.

I just bought an AAF football. Needed a new ball and this one is “retro” now. Will be cool to have in a few years.

I hope the XFL survives. I don’t know how Polian and Ebersol didn’t plan better to keep the AAF afloat for at least a few years after seeing how the XFL mess unfolded 18 years ago.

Yes. If the league looked like more than just a money loser they could've found someone to give them operating income that wasn't just interested in an app.

That's why I would kill to see their finances.

I don't think that was ever realistic to expect, do you?
A minor league football team is going to draw minor league crowds. Maybe they should have played in small stadiums, found other ways to trim expenses.
