Listen to his reaction show. Dude is a fricking joke. That chode is worse than a fricking politician with how much he talks out of both sides of his mouth.
The fact that we have to have this much explanation over Alabama getting in lends credence to the fact that they shouldn’t have gotten in.
Josh Pate is a fraud of all frauds.

Lifelong Bama dong lover.

I’ll forward your opinion to him

I can explain it real quick.
Most top 15 wins
SEC Champion
Best SOS
1 loss to one-loss team
Dethroned UGA in Atlanta
The only explanation we need is why in the frick is Texas in the playoff and not FSU?

Josh Pate gives level headed takes from a rational perspective. I could see why that would upset someone with hot takes and an emotional perspective. Everything he said in that episode was spot on. He said FSU got screwed. That’s fine. He also said Bama was the right selection. Both those statements are true. There was always going to be a team wrongfully excluded.

Bama will prove they belong. Once they pound Michigan, you'll be asking why Michigan got in.

Big 12 is 1-6 in playoff games.
Their one win was followed by 65-7.
Their one-loss conference champion should get no “benefit of the doubt” over an undefeated ACC champion, especially one who played two OOC games against SEC teams.

No he won’t. Many LSU fans don’t care about Bama being one of the 4 best. They’re outraged because they’re scared Bama will win it. We saw it in 2011. We saw it in 2017. It’ll just change to yea they won it all but they never should’ve been there. Because 1 loss SEC champions have no right to a playoff spot.

4 spots and 5 power conferences has chaos built into the model.
The entire design is set up for heartache to hit for someone.
Committee just got lucky it never hit, and of course the final season it hits full swing

No. Only one team was wrongfully excluded. If Alabama was rightfully excluded, they couldn’t say shite.

I don’t think you can punish Texas for past failures. That Texas team is built from the ground up entirely different than a “typical” big 12 team. That Texas team would bash FSU into the dirt too.
Regardless of who was left out, the left out team would have a legitimate gripe. FSU has a legitimate gripe. Texas would have. Bama would have. Washington would have. Michigan would have. It’s unfortunate for FSU fans, no question about it. In the end the committee got it as right as they could

I hate to agree with a gump, but you're right here. People on this board are just mad because they (we) hate Bama. I do too. But objectively they're the best team even in the playoffs and they beat a team on a 36 game win streak

Texas rightfully should’ve been in the playoff. Alabama should not have been in the playoff.

They could say they went undefeated in the SEC and beat the #1 team in the country a day before the selection. Of course they could. Just like an undefeated p5 champ had never been excluded from the playoff, an SEC champ has never been excluded either.
That’s the difference between people like me and Josh Pate and people like you. We can look at it with a modicum of multiple perspectives. You are so eaten up with disdain for one team that you can’t.

No doubt, someone was gonna be pissed.
It makes you think about 13, 14, and 15 next year.
The blow will be softened tho considering these teams will have multiple losses.

Pate swallows the SEC by the gallon while in his white T-shirt

He is a great speaker and very smart but he talks about football in mainly a emotion based way.
Mainly speaks of a team's/player's/ coaches motivation, sense of payback, urgency, cohesion and other subjective aspects that are important but he leaves out a lot of Xs and Os of the game that are far more important.
But I assume the casual CFB fan would be bored with analytical analysis anyways.
And of course he doesn't want to piss off the Alabama die hards.

No, I look at it from the perspective of having one team that is an undefeated power 5 champion. And another 1 loss power five champion in which the one loss was by double digits to another playoff team.
Alabama wouldn’t have been screwed had they been left out. They didn’t do enough to get in over the other undefeated conference champ.

Yea I mean that one game where the teams played each other and there was a convincing winner on the other teams field is pretty important
