Ok, I could the initial shock and horror right away and having a delayed reaction, but the quoted portion above is flat out pathetic. That's terrible and so sad.

I can agree with this.

Guy is not a hero but he was drunk and in shock. I'm not going to Condemn him for not having his head in the game.

Also, he did go get the guy.

Agreed, this is pretty clear, and I'm not sure what this woman expected from him. Saying "he won't get out" clearly indicates the guy is not fully there. Probably just emerging from his own semi-conscious post-traumatic state...

Yeah, where did this thought come from?

I get so mad anymore anyway the was people on TV throw around terms like hero and courageous. Makes me sick honestly.

I agree Brent is not a hero, but this lady is full of it.

If you ahve ever been in a bad collision (I have been in two) you are in extreme shock. you make be talking and walking around fine, but you don't really process what is going on.

You are in a "is this a dream or what" kind of state. it seems surreal.

Its not just as easy as saying Brent was refusing to help his friend.

you idiots don't understand what "in Shock" means.

you think it means something but it doesn't mean what you think it means. if you have ever experienced it you would get this

how do you know he was in shock? you were there to take his pulse? he lived on adrenaline, his job is in effect violence and chaos. I hope the DA files 1st degree manslaughter , he has a history of getting behind the wheel hammered and yes this time he killed someone.

From the lady's description! Do you people think he purposefully didn't save his best friend cause he might get some burns?

Not being there doesn't seem to have stopped you from judging his condition.

All well and good but it has nothing to do with the after-effects of the wreck.

Question . . . Why didn't any if the courageous bystanders try to save they guy themselves instead of begging the drunk driver to do it?

Not trying to pass the buck but the saying is, "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem"

So the women is supposed to pull the NFL sized man out of the car while the other NFL sized man waits?

Nice argument.

Germans. General concensus was she is a nosey count who clearly doesn't understand the effects of someone being in shock.

+1. Do you honestly think this guy (who before the crash was so drunk he wrecked his car) had any awareness after the crash? The fact that he is saying "he won't get out of the car" over and over again actually provides more evidence that he was in shock. I mean if that is your worst enemy in the car and you wreck it while drunk, why the hell would you consciously let them die when you know that is going to make the charges worse for you. The car wasn't even on fire initially.

And I shouldn't have to say this (but will because some idiot is going to take the above to mean that I am on this guy's side), but this guy should be going to jail. Multiple DUIs, passenger died, open and shut case in my opinion. I don't, however, think he is some monster that let his friend die in the car due to any conscious decision.

Oh ok.....so not the same thing at all then, right?

For what? Not reacting irrationally to this article like half the people in this thread and the fame-seeking bitch who did nothing at the scene of the accident but yell at someone who just flipped their car?

Brent should go to jail for DUI, IMO. I'm not crazy about a manslaughter for someone knowingly getting into a car with a drunk driver though.
