I think there are alot of people out there that are way smarter and would make far better football coaches than the coaches that are out there. If you think about it, football players are usually very low as a majority on the smart scale. I believe alot of men out there who are doctors, lawyers, engineers etc etc would actually make far better football coaches as they are more analytical and just far ahead in intelligence.

Look at Zampese at Cincinnati. They go from a couple of field goals in two games to averaging in the high 20s after they fire him.

Guys like Shula, Shurmur and Fassel had zero business whatsoever getting head coaching gigs in their 30s and 40s. The jury's out on Schottenheimer, but it ain't looking good.

And how many times did Wade Philips get a head coaching gig in the NFL when it was obvious that he was one of the best DCs ever but not head coach material?

Add one more to the list, and probably the worst of all of them: Norv and Ron Turner.

If he is named after his father, which he is, why is he a II and not a Jr.?

However, to be a football coach you have to be in the good ol boy system and promise to give back and you are set for life. For example, how many times have we seen NFL teams hire and rehire coaches that have already been complete failures?

I am sure there are alot of people that can make good decisions but a large part of being a head coach is being able to manage 50+ men. In the NFL that means handling 50+ millionaires, many with ego's. So being someones son and being around football for 40+ years or being in the system gives them credit.
