I'm curious, what legal trouble would he have been in if the cops were called and he was drunk?
Yeah. I mean I know you can’t drive a lawnmower drunk on roads in most states.
But what about a golf cart on the course?
Its still a DWI. You can get a DWI on a riding mower or ATV even if you're riding off road on your own private property.

I see several golf cart accidents a month that are fatalities or life altering. Horrible.

Golf cart seat belts are a thing and easy to put on aftermarket if they didn't come with them.
I'm in the market for one, but haven't pulled the trigger. I'll definitely either buy one with seatbelts or put them on.

I was playing golf one day and guy playing with me hit a short poor tee shot.
We got in the cart and I drove down the cart path, then I saw his ball out of the corner of my eye and I hastily turned the cart to the left throwing out my buddy. Fortunately he didn't even even fall, just stumbled
But he was rightfully pissed at me and I felt bad.
And I haven't drank anything that day.
Things can happen quickly

This thread had me curious, since everyone seems to know a golf cart death story.
Estimated 15,000 injuries a year and 600 deaths resulting from golf cart accidents.
If you think about how many golf carts there are being used in this country regularly (tens of millions), that is pretty insignificant.
Now, I don't know what % of those overall cart numbers are personal use golf carts and what % of accidents are personal use golf carts. But let's say 500,000 carts are personal/neighborhood use and 300 deaths are on those carts, that is more dramatic.

But the OT isn’t going to miss out on a chance to soapbox and hate on golf carts.

Why? They’re fun to cruise around in, in the right places.

Same can be said of mopeds and fat chick. And you don’t want your friends to see you riding either of them.

Elway is a drunk. So likely he was intoxicated

Exactly. I don't golf, my only experience on golf carts was when I worked as a racing photographer for a few years. Photographers use golf carts to get from the media center to the track, and around to the different corners of the track. I remember I got on the back of a cart once to get back to the media center. It was being driven by another photographer. I had to use one hand to steady all the equipment hanging from my neck, so I only had one hand available to hang on to the cart. These carts have very good torque and a low center of gravity, so they can turn pretty hard. I was hanging on for dear life. I thought I was going to let go and die several times on the drive back to the media center. I think people driving carts just don't have a sense of how big the G's are to the passengers who aren't hanging onto the steering wheel and don't anticipate the next acceleration or turn the way the driver does because he's in control.

How drunk was Elway?
We'll never find out. And he'll never have to serve time or pay a price for ending a man's life.

Elway was the driver and police weren't called.
He called 911. It says cops didn't respond. It isn't like he left the guy to die.

We're told John is the one who made the call to 911 immediately after the accident ...
Now, multiple sources tell us John was actually driving the golf cart, however, we have not been able to confirm that with Elway. There's no indication he did anything wrong.
...
No one else was injured in the accident -- which happened on the grounds of a private golf community -- and we're told cops did not respond to the scene.

My daughter has an older half sister whose father died in a similar accident.
They had all been at the swimming pool at a very large apartment complex. The apartment of the person who lived there was a pretty good distance from the pool.
After swimming, everyone piled into a pickup truck most of them in the bed. He was sitting on the tailgate. As the truck made its way back to the apartment it hit a speed bump.
The guy fell off and hit his head on the pavement. He sat up. Then he threw up. Then he just fell straight backwards again. He spent the next 17 days in a coma.
The doctors told his family that the time was very near. His mother asked him, " will you please let Mama see those big brown eyes just one more time?" He opened his eyes for the first time in 17 days, looked at his mother, and died. He was 26 years old.

People are so dumb on carts where I live.
Hanging off taking selfies
Letting young kids drive in the street
Letting older kids drive unsupervised
Overloading them with people.
Some carts are also very powerful and fast
