Yes. Sherman's great and all but he gets more hype because he plays for the best defense in the league and the Super Bowl champs. He also promotes himself a lot.

This is big. I wanna see Sherman shadow number 1s more.
When are people going to understand that Seattle isn't going to change their successful defensive philosophy even if they had Revis, Deion Sanders, whoever at CB instead of Sherman.

I dont think anyone is saying Seattle should change their D philosophy or whatever. But his stats and grades/ ratings are a little inflated due to the system. I mean hes playing in a zone D, matched up against WR2 majority of the time. Hes great at it, but thats not the same as going against WR1 in man to man like Haden, PP, Talib, etc do.
And man CBs / zone CBs are almost 2 completely diff positions with diff skill sets. Man to man guys need to be physical, fluid, flexible, great hips, freak athletes, instinctive, etc. Zone guys tend to be bigger, more rangy guys with a high football IQ to dissect plays and route combo, but they dont have to be freak athletes.
And the dude talks so much about being the best and to check his stats. If he was manned up against WR1 over 50% of the snaps I doubt he would have the type of stats that he has.
But I dont think anybody is saying Seattle should change their philosophy. But people are interested to see what he does when hes manned up against a WR1 over 50% of the snaps. I know I am.
Plus, they paid him top $$$... to play in a zone, with 2 great S back there and going up against WR2 majority of the time... And hes great at it. Not saying hes not. Hes an awesome player. But, you typically see "shadow" CBs getting the big deals because what they do is valued more than a good zone CB, and is harder / more rare to have. There are only a handful of great "shadow" CBs in the NFL for a reason.
Doesnt really matter though. Sherman is great at what Seattle asks him to do. Not saying hes not. Hes awesome, and worth the $$$ he got.

Too many fumbles in the punt return game. He hasn't scored a TD since his rookie season when he had 4.
I think Peterson is around the 5th best corner in the game yet. He's only 23 though. He'll end up the best in the game
Agreed - Peterson is almost a detriment in the PR game as Reggie Bush had become. The fumbles are far more costly than the occasional long return.
A fumbled or muffed point is almost guaranteed to cost you points, and both PP and RB have far more fumbles/muffs than long returns.

Peterson is also an elite return man, Sherman doesn't return kicks does he?

How many fumbles has he lost?? I know hes had a good bit of fumbles, but how many has he actually lost?? I only see 4 lost fumbles according to nfl.com stats.
And no hes not a detriment in the return game.

He had three fumbles last year on 33 returns and he was averaging 6 ypc, down from like 15 two years ago.

PP7 will no longer be returning punts\
He finished 21st last year and 2012 in punt return average (only 23 qualified). He was elite as a rookie. He averaged 6 yards, while the NFL best averaged 15.6

Yea im not saying he was awesome last year. But hes not a detriment to the return game.
And how many has he lost? I only see 4 lost fumbles in 3 seasons.
But I dont think he will return punts next year. They let TM return some last year and he tore his ACL on it. So I doubt PP will be back there to return. And didnt they sign Ted Ginn?

TM7 had 0 punt returns
He was injured on a short free kick that he wasn't the deep man on

Ahh good catch right there. In the replay of his injury all you see is him catching the ball and going, and since its in the field of play looks like a punt return.
He did have somein the preseason though.
Still, doubt they put PP back there after TM got hurt on a special teams play.
