Jimmy Butler requests trade, willing to sign extension with 1 to 3 teams.

Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources tell me and @JonKrawczynski. Butler has given Minnesota a list of one-to-three teams with whom he's open to signing extension, in anticipation of trade.

Tom Thibodeau has been resistant to the idea of trading Butler, we're told. With media day on Monday and training camp set to being on Tuesday, the clock is ticking.

I’m sure the Lakers are one of those teams but I doubt they are willing to give up enough assets when they have nearly $40 million in cap space next summer with Durant and Kawhi both potentially available imo

How does a source gather that kind of info without the number, just 1-3? Seems odd.

would be hard for the lakers to work out. any trade would have to have KCP for salary matching purposes and he cant be traded until december and they will want to trade him within the next. then the extension. they extensions count when they begin right? so his extension will start next year which is year #9 and that will be just under 40. so, if we make this happen and still want one of kawhi or KD, we would have to find a way to get rid of another 40 million which will be next to impossible. we would have to essentially renounce or trade literally the entire roster

I am going to treat this request just like every Laker fan does when a player was born within 500 miles of downtown LA. Butler is from Houston, was a monster McGrady fan growing up and wants to come home. So he'll end up in Houston, whatever the pieces it will take..
