According to Indianapolis sports radio host Jake Query

quote:

#JimCaldwell will be retained as Head Coach of the #Indianapolis #Colts. Official announcement to come within 4 days.

and Mike Chappelle, columnist for the Indianapolis Star.

quote:

I expect something to be announced Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest. And I expect Caldwell to return. I know that’s not what you or a lot of Colts fans want to hear. Just a feeling I have. New general manager Ryan Grigson was supposed to have met with Caldwell over the weekend. I tried to get a feel for which direction owner Jim Irsay was learning when we talked with him last Wednesday during the press conference to announce the hiring of Grigson. A few things that struck me was he still believes in continuity if at all possible and he mentioned this can’t be a popularity contest. The latter seemed to refer to the possibility of a decision on Caldwell not being popular with the fan base, but the right thing to do for the organization.

I feel like when I'm watching them on TV, he's not even aware that he is the head coach. I'm not sure what exactly he does out there.

I dont think it is.

They aren't going to win next year with a rookie QB. Let Caldwell coach, get another top 5 pick, and save a few million instead of hiring another headcoach.

No it isn't.

And the thread should read: Peyton Manning expected to return as Colts HC next year

Really? Where is the evidence for such a claim? Wasn't Raheem Morris just fired?

Doesn't prove anything. If you think both races are treated equally in the NFL then you are pretty ignorant.

How do Titans/Vols fans feel about the news? Are they frustrated that Peyton will have to waste another year being "coached" by Jim Caldwell or are they ecstatic that Caldwell will be retained for another year?

I'm not the best person to ask, to be honest. I'm young enough that I don't remember much of Peyton at Tennessee and that the Tennessee has had a pro team about as long as I can remember. I certainly like Peyton a lot, but when it comes down to Peyton/Titans, I'll take what's best for the Titans any time. I'm sure a lot of Vols fans would tell you differently. I'm honestly not sure what most Titans and Vols fans would say. I'm guessing a little, but it probably depends a bit on how old they are, to be honest.
