Based on some of the replays I have seen this year and last from MLB umpires, they need new ones. Don't care if they are female. If they can call a consistent strike zone, hire them.

I would say the same for the NBA and NFL, but we already know they are intentionally rigging games anyway. Won't matter who they hire.

It's still crazy that he had a 33 year career as an ump. At least she has a really, really low bar to clear to be considered a success.

I don’t know how many compromising pictures the ump union has, but it’s gotta be a lot

That's a female? Hope she will be able to see over the catcher to make calls.

The box score is the official record of baseball. It is the scaffolding on which the entire history of the national pastime depends, and there is nothing more important to the soul of the game than its history. You do not have to be listed in the box score to participate in baseball history, but it denotes the difference between anecdotal lore and unbiased fact.

During a game in April 2022, Alyssa Nakken subbed in as first-base coach for the San Francisco Giants. She was the first woman to participate on the field in an official major-league game.

Coaches are rarely, if ever, listed in box scores. As an assistant coach who only appeared in one game, Nakken is not included in Retrosheet's compendium of coaches. Her place in baseball history is real, it is significant, and it is anecdotal.

Box scores usually do include players, managers, and umpires.

Per Baseball-Reference, 23,231 people have played major-league baseball since 1876, and 828 people have managed in that time. Per retrosheet, through last season, 1,647 people have umpired a game, though those records go back only to 1899.

So as of today, 25,707 humans have been listed in the box score of an official major-league game.

Yesterday, one hundred percent of them were men.

It will never be one hundred percent again.

They’re calling her Angela Hernandez after missing the very first call of the game

So if you question her she will immediately get emotional and overreact.

Lol so damn dumb. Thats why we have men umpires. They don’t care if you argue with them and never overreact
