Jay Jacobs sH!t wasn't aired on ESPN and other news outlets.
Exactly...because they pick and chose who they want to go after
They didn't want to aggressively go after Te'o, so they backed off substantially and let it die.
They wanted to burn Rutgers to the ground so they used all their platform go to full guerrilla warfare retard mode

I have to think you are just trying to incite folks now. If you truly believe this then you are fricking stupid. I agree kids these days are pussies but that is because parents these days are pussies.
That being said, intent is what matters in these events. What was their intent? If it was not intended to be malicious or demeaning, did those kids know that? If not, then it was malicious and demeaning.

Just another case of the national media trying to bring Rutgers down.
Posted on 4/5/13 at 2:55 pm to jimithing11
Jay Jacobs would have been long gone had the NCAA actually have put together a competent investigation. But you know that isn't going to happen. The NCAA is a joke and has dropped the ball on other investigations besides Auburn.
I don't think what that Rutgers coach did was such a horrible thing and the AD being fired was a joke to me. I had football coaches in high school who would say some pretty damning things to me. Hell, if they threw a football at me, I'd feel like I was getting off light.
I mean I can't tell you how many times a coach yanked my facemask and dog cussed me. I got called everything you could think of.

yeah, in the end, that is what it is all about. But if this were 20 years ago, do you think people would really give a damn? The media hammers stories into the ground so much these days, reactions are usually pretty swift.
And as far as Auburn goes, you'll need a smoking gun to take them down. Remember the Eric Ramsey tapes?

the video was a perfect Sports Center highlight (I'm not saying that it was wrong to fire the coach, just that it was a perfect scandal). At Auburn it's just a bunch of allegations at this point.
Plus Rutgers felt like they had to get rid of the AD. Auburn couldn't get rid of their AD at this point, it would just be pretty much admitting that the program is a mess and there's widespread cheating and corruption.

oh yeah, and you talk about a smoking gun? Well damn, that is perfect. Again, I don't think it was really a big deal but once you have everybody talking about it and ESPN replaying the god damn thing over and over again... you have no other choice really.

yeah, I would think so too. I think the Gus Malzahn hiring will actually have Auburn's football team heading back in the right direction though. Their offense should be much improved. They couldn't really tackle last year though, so they'll need to get tougher on defense but I could see them going 7-5 or 8-4?

Someone here in Atlanta put it best. If Bear Bryant were coaching today, he wouldn't be a legend. Imagine if they had footage of his Junction City Boys throwing up, passing out, and worse...
I think that a lot of your "old school" coaches are very fortunate that cell phone cameras weren't around during their time. Instead, now those guys get praised for being "hard nosed" and "tough" because they now have legendary status.

First the comparison between Jacobs and pernetti is one I don't buy.
2 totally different deals.
My issue with the Rutgers deal is if pernetti as advised by a team of lawyers to not fire the guy...then why is he the total fall guy?
That is the hypocrisy here

Louisiana College Sports Information Director Jordan Meisner is pwning the shite out of this Rutgers prez on his twitter.

It's a shame that Rutgers Athletic Director go fired because his higher-ups were too lazy to follow up on a problem he presented to them.
DJ_Meisner_13 19h
He told the president there was a problem, brought him the video, and he didn't even watch it? #CmonMan
DJ_Meisner_13 19h
But in every controversy, there must be a scapegoat and the Athletic Director is most definitely the scapegoat in this case.
DJ_Meisner_13 19h
All of this just smells of people with big egos making decisions to cover themselves up, not trying to better that university. It's sad.
DJ_Meisner_13 19h
"Thanks for getting our athletics program to its highest ever level and for doing things the right way, but I look bad, so you're fired."
DJ_Meisner_13 19h
@BearlyDoug It's a terrible situation, Pernetti is getting hosed. He went through the process exactly how you should, but hes the scapegoat.

already SID. Child prodigy. I found him on accident, trying to locate some Stevie Douglas stats. Turns out ol Stevie transferred to LA College, so i figured i'd check out if Meis was a 25 HR hitting senior 3B by now.
Douglas doesn't seem to have taken one snap anywhere from what i've seen. Has a little chin hair now though.

these updates probably require a thread on the RB

Douglas was the home school kid that was on MTV right? Didn't he go to Memphis with Porter claiming he wanted a shot at the "other" Tigers or whatever?
Posted on 4/6/13 at 8:46 am to Maximus
I would definitely want my SID tweeting 500 times a day like a HS girl
Posted on 4/6/13 at 8:47 am to BilJ
how the hell is this kid SID already?
