those recent all time greats didn't grow up with social media where everyone's opinion is somehow needed on every topic. it's a generational thing and those guys are older. our generation and after grew up in a completely different world of communication that the previous ones only had later in adulthood. sports didn't somehow avoid this shift.
I just think simply not getting involved is so fricking easy.

I think today is different. You never ever escape the media. It’s 24/7/365. Getting involved in the muck seems like something that wouldn’t be ideal

24 hour media cycle plus instant info and reactions with twitter, reporters asking them about everything, even societal issues, etc. it's a different situation entirely now, and for the most part, unavoidable for players.

Those are having a life. Getting involved with politics is something that 100% is going to be a lighting rod in todays times. It will follow you everywhere. I have absolutely no idea why players feel it absolutely necessary to involved themselves with it. It serves no purpose

Yet Brady manges to do it fine, and Brees drops over his fricking feet

well in burrow's case, he wanted to. I think anyone thinking he's doing poorly because he said "I stand with black people" is just wishcasting some "go woke go broke" nonsense.

but the country has shifted to "what does star player think about x" because sound bites get clicks, whether it's people who agree with it or those that want to watch and hate because they disagree.

And also, burrow isn’t just getting caught answering a question here and there. He is taking time to post memes and shite with his words

He is taking it upon himself to do this, not being caught in a bombardment of questions

I agree, but you acting like it's impossible is wrong too.

I wouldn't do it or advise anyone to do it but the greats will be great, whether they comment of politics or not

He didn’t do that on purpose. He didn’t post the hat on his Twitter and put a quote about it. And even when asked, brady completely went 100% non committal on it

Trying to compare a player accidentally having a MAGA hat in his locker in view , and then denying all political involvement when asked, to a player posting political opinions on his own is a pretty bad take

If Brady went full MAGA right wing support like Schilling I would call him an idiot too

He said he hoped Trump would win the election. Kinda the opposite of "non committal"

other than saying he hoped he'd win the election?

I like Jason Whitlock, but when the heck did Joe Burrow become "woke"? I think he has him confused with someone else.

I've heard Joe say some things that were mildly PC, but nothing to be compared to Colin Kaepernick, of all people.

The New England Patriots quarterback, a golfing buddy of Trump’s who was first spotted earlier this month with one of the real estate mogul’s signature ‘Make America Great Again’ hats in his locker, was asked if the GOP frontrunner had what it took to see the race through next November during his weekly media availability in the Gillette Stadium locker room.

“I hope so, that would be great,” Brady said. “There’d be a putting green on the White House lawn. I know that.”

again, you like his politics so you defend it. you don't like burrow saying "I stand with black people" because it's "political."

Are you really equating sexual assault to your perceived political leanings of Joe Burrow?

that's where these people are today. dems are the literal devil so their opinions are on par with laying your balls on a trainer.

Trying o compare Brady and burrow is fricking retarded

One actively puts political opinions out there, one jokingly answers a direct question and even mentions a fricking putting green in the joke

And I already said I think guys that actively go out of there way to post right wing shite are dumb as hell too, so your game of “gotcha” is simply wrong
