And yet people still thought this guy was the best player in the draft?

When you add in all the off the field issues he had its amazing someone would take him #1.

I’m no Mel Kiper but I thought he was the best colllege qb prospect Id ever seen. I haven’t seen him much professionally but it’s no mystery that he was the number one overall pick.

30. Winston was a pocket passing savant for his age.

That means you’re old enough to have seen

Peyton
Eli
Vince Young
Luck
Cam
And you thought Jamies is the best. Interesting.

If you wanted a QB, who else do you take other than Mariota?

It was a completely garbage draft for quarterbacks

There are bad QBs that go high every draft year. Jameis going #1 is not shocking at all.

quote:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has eclipsed the 4,000-yard passing mark for the second straight season, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards in each of his first two seasons.

He also threw for 3,500 this year while missing three and a half games. Not too bad for being a bum, eh?

I don’t remember Peyton in college. Honestly I wouldn’t even say I remember Eli enough to say how good he was. The first college quarterback I remember thinking “damn that’s one hell of a pocket passer” was jay cutler. Cam is the best college player I’ve ever seen period but Winston was much more developed as a passer than Cam in college.

And you thought Jamies is the best. Interesting.

Phillip rivers?
Big Ben?
Matthew Stafford?

And you have Vince Young on your list. Interesting.

The timing of these threads is strange to me. He just beat a Saints team yesterday that completely destroyed last year's MVP twice in the last month. It is a pretty popular opinion that Koetter's offense isn't up with the times and is restricting an otherwise talented offense. When Winston wasn't playing hurt this year, he was a way above average QB and is younger than Carson Wentz.

There wasn't a GM in the league that would have passed on him, if QB was a need

The thing I didn’t like about JW in college was he looked completely uninterested in the first half of games, then would go beast mode in the second half.
