Tyron Woodley was a wrestler. It's not like he grew up boxing. There are a ton of MMA fighters, even in the UFC, who are great at a certain discipline and completely suck in others and could never hang in a specialized competition in the discipline they suck at.

10+ years ago there were guys in the UFC who were nothing more than blue belts in BJJ, or would get smoked by a high school wrestler in a wrestling match, or would get their arse handed to them by teenagers at a local boxing gym. The reason they made it to the UFC is because they were absolutely elite somewhere. They may be a BJJ black belt but would get whooped in a boxing match. They may be a great kickboxer but would get whooped at a local wrestling gym. Etc.

So no, UFC fighters are not good at all aspects of fighting.

It's completely believable that someone like Woodley, who didn't grow up boxing and only took it up when he got into MMA after college, could get knocked out by a guy who trains seriously as a boxer and has some talent, even if he doesn't have as many years under his belt in the gym.

Tyron Woodley has knocked out 7 guys in major promotions. He’s a phenomenal striker, idgaf if you’re delusional enough to disagree, but a guy who’s knocking out UFC fighters knows what he’s doing on his feet.

There 1000’s of guys who have been training for way longer and are way more talented than Jake Paul who try to legitimately beat pro fighters in real MMA gyms on a monthly basis and those guys get their shite rocked every single time.

I’ve seen some stupid shite on here but this might be #1. There are still BJJ “””blue and white belts””” in the UFC who are phenomenal grapplers. Those guys aren’t training in the gi and trying to get promoted. Khabib is a white belt in BJJ. Belt color has nothing to do with skill and anyone who has spent any meaningful amount of time on the mats agrees with me

And yea, UFC fighters in 2011 weren’t losing a wrestling match or a boxing match to high schoolers holy shite if you actually believe that. You’re talking about the MLB, NFL, NBA of fighting and you think casual wrestlers are beating them in a wrestling match?

maybe if you’re a fricking moron who hasn’t ever trained and gets all of his info from the Tigerdroppings more sports board. A youtuber with 2 years of boxing has about as good of a chance of beating a 2017 UFC title contender in a boxing match as I do playing pickup basketball for 2 years and beating Russell Westbrook in a pickup basketball game.

there are 20 guys at the average BJJ gym that have a more impressive wrestling pedigree than Jake Paul had. He was a trash high school wrestler who never did anything noteworthy. There are probably 100 guys at Alan Belcher MMA in Mississippi who are more accomplished than Jake Paul was in high school and more talented as well.
