I just don't see how he would want to leave Denver the way they are rolling right now.

I think they could name him coach after the season, and he stay on as Denver DC. It wouldn't be ideal for either team, but if you're USC and he's truly THE guy, they you'd take a couple months of awkward back-n-forth.

Just my opinion, but Del Rio would KILL at USC... they don't need a salesman, they need a tactition.

Dude is overrated as hell. He is the epitome of dud. He's not an overly accomplished schemer, he's not a motivator /charismatic coach, he has no significant accomplishments. Basically he's in good shape and had good hair(paraphrasing a statement from jville radio a few years ago.)

Cant believe that is even a line. He has to be the biggest long shot of all.

I will go out on a limb and say chip kelly to USC.

Cowherd said today he doesn't think it will be Del Rio. Didn't want to give specifics, but said he didn't think it would be him.

They would do it for the same reasons Nebraska let Pelini finish up at LSU. If he goes and gets a Super Bowl ring with Denver, its just another tool in the arsenal for recruits.

Exactly the type of distractions Denver doesn't need. You know Manning won't like it personally, whether he says so or not.

Would be a great hire IMO.

He's a USC alum, he's a rah-rah type that would play well with college kids (a la Pete Carroll and Jim Mora Jr), and he has an NFL pedigree.

The negative is that they'd probably have to wait until January to hire him, which would hurt recruiting. But USC pretty much recruits itself out here in the West, so that's not the obstacle it would be at some other schools.

Kelly is in the pros for at least 2 seasons. His show-cause pretty much assures that.

The difference is that Pelini got a month to recruit. If the Broncos make the SB then Del Rio would still be coaching.
