Clark just started a new radio show here in St Louis with a very controversial and oft fired host Kevin Slaten. The guy doing the show with Clark is a clown who fuels the fringe elements. If there is a popular side to a topic this guy will be on the other side just to stir controversy. He is on a crusade to clear Joe Paterno's name and restore him to "glory".

Clark has been VERY vocal about steroid abuse in baseball. He will tell anyone and everyone around town how dirty McGwire was and Green and others around baseball. This was his obsession. To "out" players for being cheats.

So when you take these two aspects together it leaves you questioning Clark and his motives. New radio show on a brand new station to sports talk in St Louis. Very controversial co host who has pulled stunts like this before for ratings and the true kicker in that through all the vocal and boisterous criticism of suspected steroid abusers by Clark over the years he just mysteriously woke up the other day and remembered that he heard Pujols was on the juice "for sure" 10 years ago?

na. Its most likely B.S.

Believe me, there is no love from me for Pujols but this story just doesn't have any legs at all.

Larger fines and longer suspensions would be a start. The fines that they hand out right now aren't enough to keep players from risking it.

The better they play, then more money they get in their next contract. The less they play, and the less money that they make because of steroids, the more of a chance that they will think twice about using them.

The current risk is worth it for many of them. Make it to where it's not worth it.

To the extent that they MLBPA will allow at this point anyway.

You ever see Albert when he was in KC? There's been silent talk kind of like how Guttin's guys all of a sudden went from huge numbers to not hitting.

He wasn't a very high draft pick. He wasn't a massively hyped prospect. He was on the BA Top 100 list one year (2001), the year he mashed and finished in the top 5 in MVP voting, something nobody could have predicted.

(If you took a late round flyer on Pujols or Ichiro in fantasy in 2001, you probably won your league.)

Pujols was always a big guy, and hit well.

He wasn't a high prospect because of his lack of true a position, and his age.

He played in a summer league after being drafted and not signing, finishing 9th in league history in RBI's. Then he signed, and continued to rake.

Then he was called up after raking in the minors, and continued to rake.

He's just a good player, always was and has been.

You're an idiot, Pujols is and always has been 100% clean.

I have said for years it is more likely he is than he isn't. Or at least was.

I put it at 75-80% that he has juiced.

I get all of this. I just still think people under estimate juicers in MLB. I think the "steriod problem" in MLB has gone from like 70% of the league to 30%. I do not think guys are on it constantly anymore, but I think 1/3 or 1/4 do it off and on during the year.

He was not always a big guy, especially in KC. He became a big guy once he got into the minors. He always could hit but he wasn't big.

Im just saying that this story doesnt have much to it when you look at it from all angles.

Im not sure I agree with your numbers but I understand your position and to a degree agree in a limited way.

Its still better to make the accuser prove their claims then to start to just label everyone "cheater" because some Tom Dick or Harry makes an accusation like the one Clark made.

Yeah, Clark's accusation does not sway me in either direction. I have said for years and even on this board if I had to bet yea or nea on Albert, it would be yea.

FTR, that doesn't make me like or dislike him any more or less. Steriods in pro sports are a moot point to me. If I was a pro baseball or football player (where the advantages are quite obvious), I would juice up and hope for the best. Risk outweighs reward by a long shot and I am a practical person.

Toad, he was a lot like Griffey. He was skinny and had frame but not bulked in KC. I think Jr did something. I don't condemn either or any of them, but they're not all clean. But neither were players of earlier generations.

Unfortunately, the MLBPA won't ever allow it.

Will be a dirty PR game played out in the media, but the owners have the money.

If they want, it's a big IF because I don't think they really want to clean it up. But if they want, all it take is questioning why they don't want clean baseball players and putting the onus on the players to be responsible for themselves and to accept the punishment for breaking the rules.

ARod still playing is a farce.

They don't need to make them legal. They need to get serious about punishment for taking them.
HGH should be legal and ministered by team physicians.

The pros far outweigh any cons from everything I've read on them.

Now that Fehr isn't leading the MLBPA they won't be as aggressive in defending themselves, IMO. Fehr was brilliant to keep testing off the table as they knew it hurt more than helped.
