I’m surprised UF has never done it.

People:

CFB is dying and losing its luster. People leave early. Students don't care anymore.

Also people:

Will these students stop having fun at CFB games

LSU has stormed the field three times in their past five home games against Ole Miss.

Absolutely ridiculous.

A minimum of a $1 million fine should be imposed and any student identified should face immediate expulsion. A 2nd time storming the field will result in a forfeit and doubling of the fine.

LSU storming the field was a function of the situation and the walk off after having never led.

No one stormed the field because it was Ole Miss. had LSU controlled the game and won by two possessions it wouldn’t have happened

Shouldn't have stormed the field on either ole miss games. Bama a couple years ago was worth it.

Way, way, way more common today.

As a kid you saw it maybe once or twice a season, almost exclusively in big upsets.

You now see it like 3-4 times a week.

Not the 1997 Florida game, apparently.

I still have a piece of the south end zone I snuck out in my pocket

Except y'all stormed your field after beating Ole Miss in 2022 in a blowout.

Was my comment talking about the 2022 game?

I was at LSU-Ole Miss.

Personally, just confirms for me that the program is not where it needs to be if you storm the field after beating Ole fricken Miss at home…which you are supposed to do.

On the other hand, it looked kinda fun.

Not as fun as getting to the truck in Lot 402 quickly and on I-10W with no hassle.

Just covered more imo.

Storming the field isn't the sign of a major upset to me, tearing down the goal post is.

It happened a lot from the 90s to early 2000s but the goalpost would come with those field stormings and people kept getting injured. So conferences, schools, and police put the kibosh on field storming for a while and they grew out of style.

Fast forward to now and you’ve got a new generation that wasn’t around then coupled with social media and field storming has become popular again.

Plus outside of Vandy, the goalposts don’t get torn down now so schools have accepted field storming again.

"Greatest Game Ever Played" 1958

Same as it ever was. Actually fans had more freedom back then.

It use to be very common. Ole Miss and state would brawl after tearing down the home teams goal post if they won. After 1926 the egg bowl trophy was given out instead of fans taking the goal post.

I think stopping the goal post falling ( safety) is a bigger deal than people on the field.

beating 1-5 teams at home, while a 20 point favorite is the new norm for storming the field

The Kick Six I think is the genesis of all this.

I agree. That visual was incredible and I think every fanbase then wanted their own version of it.

I think the schools (and conferences) are ok with it as well to some degree. Think Tennessee regrets all the contents/optics of their storming the field after beating Bama?
