unless this is a catastrophic 2nd wave. For good or ill, no season... will probably eliminate 75% or more of football programs. The bigs will survive, the La Tech, Fl Atlantics, UNLVs and maybe even schools like Houston, Memphis maybe even Boise State gone. While I haven't looked into the AD budgets for mid-majors and teams similar to these I cant imagine they have the resources to fund an AD for a year without some income from FB....

At this point, I don't care that much. If they play fine, I'll watch. If not, I'll have more time to spend with the kids doing other stuff.

I already witnessed the greatest season ever by a team, so I'm satisfied to ride off into the sunset.

Where did you pull this number from?

If there is football without fans, most programs will survive from the TV money. Will likely face some cuts, buy they'd survive.

No football = a very different future of college athletics. Only a handful of athletic departments could survive a year without football revenue

Nope. The benjamins are mostly from TV, just the ticket and food sales will be removed from the equation.

You underestimate the financial impact of fans on a local economy. No fans will hurt everyone.

Think of the hotels and restaurants in towns Starksville or Auburn (that's the name of the town, right?) that rely on that money ESPECIALLY after the any Spring business was wiped out already because of Covid. This would be devastating for a lot of areas. A whole lot.

Of course, I'm a nobody and have no clue what's going to happen, but my guess it's that the odds are around 50/50 of it they'll allow fans. If this second wave materializes with a sizable impact, the decision will be made in late July and I'm afraid they'll err on the side of caution. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, I think the NFL might be able to survive on TV money. But, not college football.

People who say the need for money means games will be played seem to be forgetting about the billion dollar basketball tournament that was cancelled. I think administrators who don't really care about sports and/or are worried about liability issues will be a huge obstacle to games being played. Once people test positive, the excuse for shutdown will be made that "we need to worry about the safety of our students, athletes, and fans."

Yeah over on the Rant they're talking about breakout players, depth charts, the schedule week by week. To me at feels like passengers on the Titanic making dinner plans for NYC.

The chance of having a season pretty much went out the window when half the population concluded mitigation strategies offended their delicate sensibilities
