Collins started a SB, but didn't win.

RB's are still incredibly important but the NfL has figured out a way to exploit the shite out of them and pay them much less. Also it's the easiest position to plug someone into right away.

Kijana carter, albeit a great college back, was nothing more than that. No different than a Melvin gordon, Ahman Greene, or any other of the dozens of guys that have excelled in college throughout the last 20 years or so.

I don't know how ahman green is the 2nd name that came to mind. He had a pretty damn good NFL career

If a RB isn't selected first overall next year (ahem, a certain LF7) then it could be decades before we see it happen again. GMs are so wary of the longevity of that position in today's game.

never said he didnt. I'm just lumping kijana carter in a group of college rb's like melvin gordon or ahman green, guys who where great but, but not at the level of once in a generation type players like bush, peterson, sanders, herschel or bo. I'm referring to college production not nfl success.

2005 USC and 1994 PSU are the most dynamic, best and pro well-rounded offenses I ever saw...above those Miami pro threats in the 80s.

You can rank them how you want but those two teams made their D look like crap because their average scoring drives were under two minutes.

I still can't reconcile the politics of the 1994 season...Dr. Tom said he was going to retire mid-season...PSU was #1 and then NU jumped them and PSU didn't even get a share...

And Dr. Tom reneged after the title vote and came back for a few more years. That was a shady vote and year.

Agreed. I'll throw 01 Miami in there as well. USC 05 was the best though. They averaged 100 more yards per game than 94 penn state.

here is the craziest thing about 05 usc.... they were top 5 in rushing and passing that season. i don't know if any team in modern history has ever been close to that. even the ridiculous baylor teams of the last few years haven't come been close.

I don't think any team has done that.

kerry collins won a super bowl

Really? Which Super Bowl was that? The one he started for the NYG the Ravens won 34-7 and the Giants only TD was on a kick return Collins was an journey at best, that he was "better" than Leinart in the pros is irrelevant. Leinart was MUCH better in college. If you want "scoreboard" check who won 1 Heisman and finished 2nd in another vs 1 4th place finish.

quote:

College Ka-Jana Carter YPC 7.9 Reggie Bush 7.3 YPC
NFL Draft Ka-Jana Carter 1st overall pick
Reggie Bush 2nd overall pick
scorebord bitch lol
one is clearly better than the other

Scoreboard? Well, you got me in Carter was the #1 pick vs Bush "sliding" all the way to #2. On the college stats you are wrong. Bush had a 7.3 YPC avg for his career vs 7.2 for Carter. Carter;s best season was 7.8 vs 8.7 for Bush. In their best seasons. Bush had 200 carries for 1740 vs 198 carries and 1539 for Carter. That;s 2(TWO) more carries and 200 more yards PLUS 300 more yards Rec. And while Bush was never a Hall of Fame #1 back in the NFL. He unlike Kerry Collins did in fact win a SB ring and was a contributor to the team, so he out did Carter in college AND in the pros. But, hey, don't let facts get in the way of your bullshite narrative.

It is a bit surprising that it's been that long that a back hasn't been #1, but the game has changed so much a rb just isn't as much a priority as it once was. Gourmet the can run for 2,000 yards and win the heisman and probably not be in the top 5. It's just the way it is.

Yet one was the first pick in the draft, and the other was the sexond. Generally the first pick, is better than the second one. Ki-Jana was bigger, faster and avged more per carry

Yeah, that's crazy...I just looked it up.

Before 2005 - No college football team had ever in one season produced a 3,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard rushers and a 1,000-yard receiver.

No college football team in the last 60 years has ranked in the top five in the nation in rushing and passing offense...until

2005 USC

They broke historical barriers. Fun team to watch...still remember them treating Arkansas like a practice squad...this was during the height of LSU, USC make believe feud.

#1 USC best Arkansas by 55 points
#3 LSU beat Arkansas by 2 points

That USC team was crazy even if they came up short by an inch. Still don't understand the sec argument from back then.

That 2005 team was scary good. But IMO the 2008 team was better. That defense was one of the best ever.

you are probably right. 04 or 08 usc would have beat that 05 texas team by 2 td's. unfortunately for pete and usc fans, the 05 usc offense was matched by the worst defense of the pete carroll era.

if usc had any type of defense in 2005, they would have been the greatest college team of all time, better than 95 nebraska

mcfadden is in the same tier collegiately as ladanian tomlinson or marshall faulk. a step above the kijana carters of the world, but not at bush's level.

reggie bush is the best non-quarterback college football player of the last 25 years or so.

Whoa now....that's pretty bold. But if 2008 gets to the title game they smoke Florida IMO . Not sure if it gets to 95 Nebraska territory though. IMO the best usc team ever was 1972.

C'mon, Bush was awesome too, but lets not get carried away. Top 50 sure, but sure fire best non QQB last 25 years, no way!

I'd take TM7 just off the top of my head.
