Mike Shanahan would need to get in first.

Is the most successful 9-7 coach in the history of the NFL.

took an expansion team to a couple of conference champ. games, went to another franchise & won 2 super bowls, no brainer imo

Went like 14-3 one season.. lost to jeff fisher 3 times. 170-150 overall is pretty meh. Definitely a front office cancer, almost singlehandedly destroying their last afc championship appearing team.

That record reduces down to 17-15 over 2 seasons. I've been told 15-17 is abject failure in the nfl. Pick your hill to die on

He was the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick kryptonite and took the Jags to two conference championships. Other than that kind of meh. But I think a multi Super Bowl winning coach who also was over the most successful expansion team in the league during that time period should eventually find their way to the HOF.

His best current comp is Mike Shanahan; 2 SB wins, 170 wins is the same, but about 20 fewer losses.

Flores and Siefert are the only two eligible coaches w/2 SB wins who aren't in the Hall-Flores is a finalist this year, and likely gets in this class.

These were not your John McKay expansion teams.

NFL was so worried to not repeat the 70s Bucs they went overboard with picks and players they created playoff teams almost immediately.

So yeah he did great with the Jags and deserves credit but it wasn't expansion in the traditional sense (i.e. we're a team of scrubs).

If he does, I guarantee he will be 15 minutes early to the ceremony.

He took on the Jags brand new franchise. They grabbed great players

Brunell
Boselli
Taylor

Snatched Jimmy Smith from the cowboys turned him into a HOF worthy guy

Keenan McCardell

Etc. Basically he built a franchise better then any ever has that fast

They beat Elway Davis Sharpe etc before they won 2 in a row. Big favs too Sharpe still says its the worst loss of his career. In his words

He's 14th All-Time in wins. Medicore would be being 14th in a 30 team league.

Except Carolina went to the playoffs first and we still haven't seen a super bowl, outside of hosting it.
