So David Robinson was the PF early on?
The guy's a center who was labeled a PF early on because, well, SOMEBODY had to be labeled a PF in the box score.
If it weren't for San Antonio's all time great tank, Duncan goes somewhere without a HOF center already on the roster, starts at center from day 1, and we never hear this Tim Duncan PF junk. The guy's the definition of a center

I said an argument could be made that he has been a 5 the second half of his career. So is he the best 4 of all time? Or just a top 5 center?

I agree. He's 7 foot tall and plays in the post. He's a goddamn center. The spurs played with 2 centers for a long time.
But if you want to call him a power forward and compare him to those in the OP, yes he is the greatest in that group.
Tim Duncan is a Top 10 player of all time.
ETA: I don't know why people think the numbers have to match up with the position. Chris Bosh plays the 5 and he is damn sure not a center. Duncan plays the 4, but he is a center.

I think he's a center though, so he'd be lower on that list. Maybe top 5, not definitely though.

Isn't this pretty universally accepted?

Yes, Duncan is the best. A good question is who is the second best. I saw Mailman, Chuck and KG, but Bob Petit put up some pretty good numbers.

I'll give you the admiral at the front end of his career, but after that, it's bullshite. 4 guys said the same fricking thing in this thread within a minute. That tells you something.
What position do Rasho Nesterovic and Tiago Splitter play?

I'll assume your DOB is correct and address from there. I am only 22 so I won't act like an old timer.
Duncan was a 4 for most of his career. He is a center now because of his decreased mobility and the lack of true centers in the NBA.
Posted on 5/21/13 at 11:40 pm to ehidal1
He's the best player to ever play the 4.
But he's not a 4. That irks the hell out of me. Duncan is a Center.

Too flashy. I prefer my big men more gritty.

Ok so what were David Robinson and Rasho Nesterovic?
Or even Tiago Splitter. Tim Duncan is a power forward. Regardless, he is one of the best "big men" to ever play the game.

Well, he HAS been dunking at a higher rate the past couple seasons........
And that Kawhi Leonard kid's demeanor makes Duncan look awfully flambuoyant by comparison

Tim Duncan is probably the least flashy NBA great of all time.
But he does work all the same.
Sidenote: I want those jersey's back ^^
