Mavs have cap room to acquire a piece here or there(unless drastic CBA changes)

Given the recent history and the possibility of getting new blood such as Paul,Williams or Howard?

Are we "witnessing" the new rivalry of the 10's? I for one hope so.

I think Heat/Thunder or Heat/Lakers is more likely.

All I know is, Miami is set up in the East to make the Finals for the next few years.

maybe, but the respective players and fans won't share the venom that these two have for one another.

They can, but I still don't see them beating Miami next year even if they do add a Rip Hamilton-type player.

If only they weren't paying Brewer and Korver about $10M per for the next two years.

Ghazi,I am surprised at your answer. The Heat are your Lex Luthor.I would guess most Mavs fans would rather beat the Heat for the NBA championship than any other team in the East, right?

All I know is we desperately need one, and it would be great if the hornets could be involved.

aren't guys like Butler and Chandler expired now?

So, they really can't just add to what they have now at all.

They could either let those 2 go, along with others, and get peanuts in return, if anything. Or resign them, so they realy can't add much, other than trades.

I won't be surprised if Jason Kidd retires.

He should, go out on top. He can't have much left in the tank. Plus what is there to prove? Chances are they won't repeat. Not worth the risk and work to not repeat.

yeah they have a huge payroll, but with 17 million coming off the books next year(summer of 12) in addition to 8 million in trade exceptions,Dallas has room to maneuver.

*under current CBA rules.

Chandler, Butler, Barea, and Stevenson are all free.

Dirk and Marion are long-term.

Kidd and Terry are under contract through next year.

Basically, they'll try to re-sign as many of those guys as they can (Tyson and Barea are musts) and try to win it again next year.

After that, Kidd will probably retire and their championship "window" with this group of players will probably be closed.

Peja's also a FA, that 40mm of contract coming off between the 3 of them.

But I am sure the Mavs were well over the cap.

Only way the hornets get involved is if they can pick up 2 spots 1 a big time center, 2 a big time 2guard

Peja wasn't bought out in Toronto? Or wherever he went?

I think the Knicks might be able to challenge them but I don't think they could take them down in a series.
