It is difficult to compare all these golfers from different times in history.

I do know back then they didn't chase records like many are doing now.

Tiger refused blood and urine tests so he was prevented from playing for the United States Olympic Team. He probably would have won had he been clean enough to pass the drug screening.

Tiger’s no different from East German female Olympic swimmers.

The shite people make up on the internet. Tiger did not qualify for either Olympic team. Not even close really.

There’s only been golf in the Olympics twice in his career. Tiger wasn’t playing golf at all the first time due to his back. And in 2020 he wasn’t in the T4 Americans in the world so he didn’t qualify.

quote:

However, only the top four Americans inside the world's top 15 could qualify, and Woods was not one of them. For a while, the top four were Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Patrick Cantlay. Woods was just behind them. Eventually, the following golfers made the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo last year: Xander Schaufelle (Gold medal winner) Colin Morikawa (tied for fourth) Patrick Reed (tied for 22nd) Justin Thomas (tied for 22nd).

Hard to tell if he's actually in serious pain or just playing like shite

Both applies. He plays like shite because of his back pain.

Yes, he should retire gracefully. His son can continue the legacy, he has the talent as well.

He did not try to qualify. He was ineligible because he didn’t want to take a drug test. That’s not internet stuff, that’s history.

He’s done; but oh what the memories.

The Tyger

BY WILLIAM BLAKE

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat.
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp.
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears
And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

You are an idiot. The qualifications are simply rankings

Speaking of that. Who will be on our Olympic golf team this go-around in 2024?

It's been the end of career ever since that accident and subsequent accidents that have left him basically a cripple. Dude can't play golf anymore at the level he once dominated at.

Obviously hasn’t been the same since Elin took the 7 iron to the Escalade

There was no “trying to qualify.” It was based on world golf ranking. He wasn’t ranked high enough to qualify in 2020. In 2016, he wasn’t playing golf at all due to his back. He played in one tournament over those two years, withdrew in the middle of it with his back injury, and didn’t return until after his spinal fusion surgery at the end of 2017.

Tiger Woods is nothing more than a ceremonial golfer at this point. That’s what he is reduced to.

I don't see how anyone could argue Tiger over Jack at this point.

I think you argue it based on the depth of fields. Not that Tiger’s era was as strong as today’s fields, but it was definitely tougher than Jack’s era.

Disagree. Jack’s era much more top heavy

I could be wrong, and obviously there were great golfers in that era, but I think one of the reasons it was more top heavy is because the bottom of the fields were so much worse. You used to not be able to make a living as a golfer unless you were one of the best in the world, limiting the depth of talent.

It’s the same reason IMO why you’re more likely to have a good winner at one of these signature PGA Tour events or a LIV event. But instead of there not being a big field at those events, the bottom of the field at majors in the day stunk.
