Is there a reason the big12 does not care about tradition?

It seems like the only tradition the conference cares to preserve is the red River rivalry. After conference realignment, I thought UT was gonna play Tech on thanksgiving night then that ended. Bedlam used to be the last game on the schedule during rivalry week/thanksgiving weekend, that changed. Now we have Texas playing Iowa state. Granted it’s a good game with implications but they didn’t know that when the game was scheduled. Why can’t they stick with schedules to keep tradition? Is it the shitty TV contract that won’t allow this to happen? The SEC & B10 do a good job at preserving traditions such as this. The uniforms are a whole other thing.

Bedlam - last week of the season (thanksgiving weekend)
Tech-UT thanksgiving night
Tcu -Baylor - same Saturday every year
K state - Kansas - last week of season (Thanksgiving weekend)

Name any tradition of the PAC 12.
Name any traditions of the B1G, other than Ohio state and Michigan at noon the Saturday after thanksgiving

It’s been a strange year all around... but hopefully by next season it will get to a more normal season. This year has been a scramble just to get games in.

I think Bedlam was moved once they brought the conference championship game back since both teams were near the top of the conference every year. They're trying to avoid teams playing the same game back-to-back.

That being said, I think that a consistent schedule (especially around Thanksgiving) would be great.

Texas was alternating between Tech and TCU, whichever they had at home and Bedlam has long moved around.

Texas wanted to have a home game every year on thanksgiving because they are like that. So they had to rotate between several teams. But nobody really cared about their games against those schools.

Are those really traditions, or just silly names given to annual games?

Texas NEEDS to play on thanksgiving night every year.
Should just rotate between TCU, Baylor, Tech. Possibly save a non conference for like Houston or Arkansas.

Not sure about the PAC, but usually the b10 schedules pretty consistently. Penn state Michigan state Wisconsin Nebraska Iowa etc they all seem to face the traditional opponents on a regularly scheduled basis.

They’re tradition as they’re played weekend of Thanksgiving.

Now the B1G has moved because up until 3 years ago they didn’t play after thanksgiving.

Like LSU and A&M

SEC completely fckrs the thanksgiving week games, specifically LSU and Arkansas....how short is your memory.

LSU Arkansas on Black Friday was a great tradition. They figured mizzou Arkansas would eventually be a good series but I disagree. I’d rather keep LSU Arkansas on Black Friday and stick LSU vs A&M in the middle of the schedule where they placed Arkansas. It’s about $$ via tv views I suppose.

There ya go. Well said. I knew there was some out west but was too busy to look it up for specifics. Good CFB fan right there.

Y'all knew when A&M came to the SEC that Arky would get knocked down a peg. If A&M stealing Arky's weekend was a surprise to you, that's on you.

Do what? The B1G has been playing after Thanksgiving for years. Maybe in the 80's when no teams but a few big rivals(Iron Bowl, UF-FSU, TAMU-Tex) did.

Some people only pay attention to their team and their conference and it’s pretty obvious on this board. Some can be completely oblivious to anything non-SEC. then they’re all surprised when Clemson or Ohio state kicks their teams arse in a championship game and their team loses in a bowl game. The bias is real
