Public schools recruit too buddy

Ya no doubt. They have proved that year after year

Ya I went to Cinco an up until a few years ago they were garbage. Katy still destroys teams once they get into the playoff year after year and in this state that isnt easy

Maybe not to
the extent as some privates, and they have less to offer surely, but alot of public schools will work something with parents where they can live out of district, give a false address, or even give up legal custody on paper, so a kid can legally attend a certain school

Katy Taylor has benefited from the district switch, but still can't beat Katy or CR. They also got a decent coach.
They were garbage when I was there.

Ya it happens but like you said, not to the extent of privates. Willowridge here in Houston got in trouble for it years back after it was discovered TJ Ford was supposed to go to Baytown Sterling but after some help was able to join one of the greatest highschool basketball teams in Texas History. Ive never heard of Katy in any trouble for recruiting or while I was in the same district never any rumors that they did. There coaching is just far superior to everyone elses in the state

How long ago were you there?

Converse Judson (San Antonio) has more state championship appearances (11) than any team except with Odessa Permian (11). And they have 6 state championship wins which ties them with Katy for the most. Converse Judson is usually in Div I and Katy in Div 2 which means Converse Judson is playing in the equivalent of 6A in the playoffs....bigger schools. Katy is usually in Div 2 and playing somewhat smaller schools.

I think what makes Katy so impressive is that they have done so much in what would be considered a very short period of time compared to other programs. Their accolades didnt really begin until the mid 90's

Valdosta is pretty sick. They are public right?

Typically the best public program in Ohio at the highest division is probably Glenville in Cleveland (but even they "recruit")
Most talented, yes. Best, no.
Hilliard Davidson (
How many regional championships (til this year) has Glenville won this decade (they have had to deal with tough programs like St. Iggy and Mentor, but I think this is their first)? How many playoff appearances (while the Clev area is usually better at the top, I don't think it has the depth that our region does)? And they typically play a terrible schedule (inner city Cleveland).

A good friend went to school there. His family moved down here after he graduated and his brother went to West Monroe. According to him, WM>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ohio teams. Can't say because I've never seen the Ohio teams live. West Monroe can compete with pretty much anyone from 90 to now in the public forum. Katy's history is better though.

Since '83, Judson has only missed the playoffs 3 times and been in 12 state championship games.....winning 6.

they have 2 starting QB's at TCU and SMU.

West Monroe has won 6 titles since 93 and played in the Dome 11 times in 16 years. Looks like that could go to 12 in 17 years Friday.

When did he play there? If it was 5 years ago or longer, that's probably accurate (at least for Central Ohio [where Davidson and my school are], Cleveland/Cincy, I'm not so sure, I think the top teams from those two cities would give them a run for their money in the early 00s), but teams like Davidson and us have stepped up their games since then. Obviously, though, I wouldn't be shocked if WM would win, even by 14 or so. They're clearly a VERY talented team. At the same time, though, if we played our A game, we could pull it off.

To be fair, his brother played on the 1998 WM team. The one with Bradie James, Andrew Whitworth, Rodney Reed, Brian West, Jason Ledoux...total of 16 D1 players on that team. Named #1 in the nation by multiple polls that year.
