Northern schools put the resources Southern schools put into baseball into hockey

So you want Northern schools to spend a lot more money than Southern schools have to just to remain somewhat competitive? Wouldn't it be a lot easier to move the season back to you know when Baseball is supposed to be played?

I grew up in Iowa and our baseball season was always in the summer after school got out. It worked great. State finals actually just ended last week.

College baseball needs to be moved the start of the season back a month in a half.
No because then its going to be miserably hot and muggy watching LSU baseball in July.

Plus thats going to be pretty inconvenient for graduating seniors who are ready to get started with their careers. Baseball is already the latest NCAA spring sports season to finish. Pushing it back another month and a half means that even players on teams that don't make the NCAA tournament will have to stick around for 2 full months after graduation. 3 months for teams that make it to super regionals or the CWS.

And that simply isn't a work in progress? The Pac-12 will not have a TV contract?

Not a very good one.

If the media rights were "simply a work in progress", and the Pac 12 was going to get everything they wanted in the end, members wouldn't be fleeing or trying to flee.

That's a lot better than snow still being on the ground in February, March and some of April. Even without snow, it is still very cold until May.

This will make it a regional sport forever then. Don't expect northern schools to ever prioritize it.

I think he’s just pointing out that in the north programs allocate a lot of resources to hockey while most southern schools don’t even have hockey teams so that money goes to baseball.

Not a good TV contract.

Everyone knows Washington and Oregon wanted to follow USC and UCLA to the B1G. Even if Colorado stayed, Oregon and Washington were both gone as soon as the B1G sent an invitation.

TV networks negotiating with the PAC-12 after the departures of USC and UCLA would've been foolish not to give themselves an opt-out clause in the contract that got triggered if any additional schools jumped ship.

Because that makes sense. But I bet if they moved the season back, a lot of northern schools would then pour a lot more money into baseball.

You're a senior on a bad team that has no postseason hopes and you don't get a lot of playing time. You have a nice job offer waiting for you, but now instead of baseball season wrapping up 2-3 weeks after graduation, now you're still playing ball 2 months after graduation and have to delay the start of your job until baseball is done.

NCAA baseball scholarships aren't full rides like football and basketball. Each team has 11.7 scholarships to divide among a max of 27 scholarship players. Most players are on partial scholarships and have had to pay out of pocket for most of their college expenses. Think a lot of those players who racked up student loan debt wouldn't prefer to start earning a paycheck ASAP after graduation? Especially if they don't get a lot of playing time and/or have a shot at an NCAA tournament run?

Having the majority of a college season in the summer when students aren’t on campus is not really a realistic option.

If you can’t figure out why it’s not a realistic option to have the majority of a sport’s season when the majority of school is not in session, Oldmanbeasley can’t help you.

Guess you can't. We did it in high school and it was no problem. I under stand college is different, but I fail to see why it wouldn't work whether you had students or not.

Really not sure why Colorado thinks this is a move up. The Buffaloe's changes for the playoff would be a wash in either conference.

Pac 12 leadership has been saying their new TV deal is two weeks away for months now. They got tired of being jerked around.
