If they find a serviceable QB they are in the playoffs.

This is the key, and if you've paid attention the past few years you know that's a big IF. No one would gamble and get rid of him when finding a "serviceable QB" is hard as frick.

Plus teams are smart about contract structures, people get caught up in the numbers without looking at the whole contract.

Most of the teams have the hang of the cap by now so they'll be able to keep most of the people they want to keep.

and most teams aren't better once 20 million is tied up in 1 player.

I hope Seattle pays him the biggest contract for anything ever in the history of the universe. Just means their team will barely be a wildcard team.

They will lose $19 million worth of players (mostly defense I'm sure). Add to that, Lynch could potentially retire sooner than we think.

Then we will see how great Wilson is.

He is a serviceable, competent QB for Seattle. "Serviceable" and "competent" are not worth $20 million.

Seattle could go out and find that for half the price, if not less and still be contenders every year with that defense and run game.

Exactly. We live in a world where Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel went in the first round.

Marcus Mariotta and Jameis Winston, despite a ton of questions about them, are going high in this year's draft.

Seattle is going to stick with Wilson until he demonstrably starts really sucking and he will be getting paid.

True but that's a bridge that they have to cross sooner or later. They have to break out the checkbook sooner or later. No team escapes that.

Russell Wilson is a modern day version of Terry Bradshaw with more mobility.

Anyone ever actually looked up Bradshaw's numbers? There is absolutely no reason he should be anywhere near the HOF. He was an average player on a team stacked with talent everywhere else.

Now Wilson has better numbers due to the nature of the league these days and what defenses are allowed to do versus back then, but he is also an average to slightly above-average QB who has a great offensive line, running back and an all-time defense.

Seattle is the kind of team that the Trent Dilers and Brad Johnsons of the world win Superbowls on.

So taking the QBs off each team to START A FRANCHISE, you'd choose Wilson over the QB I showed?
Not necessarily, but it is no argument Wilsons first three years are better

Wilson is obviously better than both, that wasn't my point. My point was that the Seahawks winning a title isn't indicative of Wilson's skill level, because Seattle wins like the Bucs and Ravens of the early 2000s.
