You'll never get a fair response to this question.

Jordan one of 5 players on court at all times
Manning one of 22 players on field less than 50% of time.

Too many variables out of Manning's control. Doesn't play defense or special teams, I could go on and on.

When it is all said and done, Peyton Manning will be regarded as the best to ever play his position.

Man, Florida fans cling to that one stat that no one else cares about a little too much.

Maybe if we are talking regular season...maybe.

Jordan just had the ability to get it done in the playoffs that Manning seems to lack.

If you combine Peyton in the regular season with Eli in the post season, you might have 1 Manning resembling something close to Jordan.

All it takes is the Marino vs. Dilfer debate to be brought up and your argument immediately blows.

No, it really doesn't. Dan Marino is remembered as an incredible QB but because he doesn't have RINGS, he isn't seriously considered in the GOAT debate. Trent Dilfer is simply remembered as an average/mediocre QB who ended up being on a team that won a Super Bowl.

Roethlisberger is better than Peyton because RINGS, am I right?

Manning is the all time leader in playoff losses and int's. What a great thread.

No, it isn't. I'd put Montana, Elway, Unitas, and Manning over Marino.

No but if you're trying to make a direct comparison between Peyton and Jordan (which is silly from the get go because of the different sports thing) then post season success is very relevant.

But, if "rings" is an unacceptable metric then you can use the fact that Peyton lost a Super Bowl that was in his control while Jordan never lost a Finals.

no that's absurd

a more realistic comparison is saying Brady is better than Manning because he has rings.

or MJ is better than lebron because he has more rings

no one is saying dilfer is better than Marino and to bring that comparison up to discredit the argument is the definition of disingenuous.

Once again...you think I'm only looking at rings, but I am not. Stats, rings, playoff appearances, and playoff performances all come into the equation when you are trying to judge which QB is the greatest. A QB could put up over 100,000 yards in his career during the regular season, but if he consistently chokes in the post season and fails to win a championship, how can you call him the greatest who ever played the game?

But why? If you can pick and choose criteria, I should be able to apply it.
