The BIG ten is by far the second best conference. They are not top heavy like the SEC is but could be a deeper conference.

Mississippi State was ranked #1 during the season in 2014.

Florida finished this season at #7.

MSU was a case of having players that stay around all 4-5 years and they ended up with a real good team that year just like Ole Miss did.

Is this really a thing? Some people think the SEC is the 1 dominant team conference?

NC Teams since 98(inaugural BCS season)

1998 Tennesee
2003 LSU
2006 UF
2007 LSU
2008 UF
2009 Bama
2010 Auburn
2011 Bama
2012 Bama
2015 Bama
2017 Bama
2019 LSU

Vs

2002 OSU
2014 OSU

NCG Runner Up

2011 LSU
2013 Auburn
2016 Bama
2017 UGA
2018 Bama

Vs
2006 OSU
2007 OSU

I understand the Big is a good conference but it usually only features 1 elite caliber team. The SEC on any given year might have 2-3

Big10 still has more competition than the SEC the last 5 years where it's just been Alabama running over everyone not named LSU.

GTFO. Auburn, Florida and Georgia have all had teams cable of winning the NC the last 5 years. With LSU and Bama included, generally all 5 of these teams have to play at least 3 of the other 4 including the SEC Championship game just to make the CFP while Clemson basically gets a bye and the Big 10 hasn’t had another program appear in a NC game since the BCS was implemented in 1998. Not to mention that twice in that period it was an All SEC Championship game.

No, more like Clemson is the OSU of the ACC now since OSU has been doing it for way longer.

GTFO with that stupid bullshite. Really?

In the last 5 years could any of those teams really compete with Ohio State let alone the rest of the college football elite?

Answer. NO!

In the last 3 years Auburn has won 2 out of three against bama, UGA went to overtime in the championship and Florida has won two New Year's Six, including completely destroying the 2018 wolverines, who were second in the B1G. Do you even watch college football?

I think that Mich State was better than OSU in 2015 same for PSU in 2016. Those didn't seem like flukes, granted I'm not a big ten expert

UGA - maybe. I think their 2017/2018 teams could've made it competitive.

UF - not quite. They had some good teams, but not elite. They were still deficient at QB really between late 2015 until last year. Grier doesn't get caught, I think McElwain stays a little longer. It also changes whether or not Mullen comes in an gets Franks to improve or Trask to be a solid QB.

Auburn - , not quite

Do you? Auburn has lost 4,5,4,5,6 and 5 games in the last six seasons. You claim that to be elite? Or is elite competing in a rivalry game?

Agree about UGA. They are good bit above Florida and Auburn right now.

Not even close in 2015 against Michigan State. I was there and it literally was a torrential downpown the entire game. It mitigated Ohio State's passing advantage severely. And our all-pro RB was in the hospital and didn't practice all week.

And Ohio State gifted Penn State the game in 2016 on fluke special teams plays. You could argue that 2017 or 2018 that Penn State was the better team, not 2016.

Blatant disrespect for 2017 national champs ucf
I know UCF is a pain in the arse, but they're skimming talent away from Fla State and Miami. A lot of their starters would be solid depth on those teams, give them a good base to build on.

Re Ohio State and the Big 10, way more of an Alabama/SEC situation. Penn State and Wisconsin are still miles above the next team in the ACC.

This thread isn’t about how many elite teams a conference has. It’s about how many can beat an elite team regularly enough to make the conference interesting. The sec has five of those most years. The big ten has one or two a year. Auburn has won one Championship and played for another in the last ten years. Ohio State is the only B1G school to ever play in either a bcs or cfp championship. There is no real argument to be made about which conference provides more of a gauntlet for the eventual champion or has a more competitive upper echelon

Most different teams to make a championship game since the start of the BCS:
SEC- 6
Big 12- 3
ACC- 2
PAC- 2
Big East- 2
Independent- 1
Big ten- 1

Wasn't Michigan State using a backup QB in that 2015 game?
